About this listen

Boundaries are the ways we communicate our needs. They are what allow us to feel safe among strangers, in everyday interactions, and in our closest relationships. When we have healthy boundaries, we have a strong foundation in an uncertain world. And when someone crosses your boundaries, or you cross someone else’s, the result range from unsettling to catastrophic.

In this audiobook, best-selling author Dr. Faith Harper offers a full understanding of issues of boundaries and consent, how we can communicate and listen more effectively, and how to survive and move on from situations where our boundaries are violated.

Along the way, you’ll learn when and how to effectively say “no” (and “yes”), troubleshoot conflict, and respect your own and others’ boundaries like a pro. You’ll be amazed at how much these skills improve your relationships with friends, strangers, coworkers, and loved ones.

I would recommend this to anyone looking to improve their relationships. I find having language to express my boundaries with really empowering and this book gives lots of examples. The performance is engaging and easy to listen to.

Everyone should listen to this.

I need to listen again and take notes. But that won't be a chore because Faith's writing style and Erin's performance are entertaining.

I really do love this set of books. They are easy to listen to and well performed. However here is my problem with this particular book.

Inclusivity!

You talk about inclusivity and I’m all for that, however whilst you talk about r**e culture and how it’s mainly committed by men (and I don’t disagree) you don’t even acknowledge that there are survivors of abuse (sexual or otherwise) that are Men who have been abused, coerced sexually and violently committed by Women. You can’t talk about inclusivity and deny another demographic, that’s not inclusive.

Survivor Men (cis het as you would put it) like myself exist who have lived violence, coercion, abuse (sexual and physical) committed by (cis het) Women.

Even a nod, An acknowledgement wouldn’t go amiss

Inclusive!!!

I wish I read this sooner. I love it so much I’ve recommended this book to friends. Such a revolutionising book and I’m better for having journeyed through it.

Life changing

Good overall, however some of the langauge is unnecessary, such as an over reliance of slang and swearing. Gets woke in parts and talks about rape culture ideology and implies it's only really 'Cis Het men' that are coercive etc.

Good overall with some issues

Genius

This book helped me address my own actions which had previously hurt others. It gives space for growth and development and handles important, difficult subject matter with copious swearing.

A great way to reasses how you think
