About this listen

What if you could defuse tension and create accord in even the most volatile situations - just by changing the way you spoke? Over the past 35 years, Marshall Rosenberg has done just that, peacefully resolving conflicts in families, schools, businesses, and governments in 30 countries all over the world. On Nonviolent Communication, this renowned peacemaker presents his complete system for speaking our deepest truths, addressing our unrecognized needs and emotions, and honoring those same concerns in others. With this adaptation of the best-selling book of the same title, Marshall Rosenberg teaches in his own words:

  • Observations, feelings, needs, and requests - how to apply the four-step process of Nonviolent Communication to every dialogue we engage in
  • Overcoming the blocks to compassion - and opening to our natural desire to enrich the lives of those around us
  • How to use empathy to safely confront anger, fear, and other powerful emotions

Here is a definitive audio training workshop on Marshall Rosenberg's proven methods for "resolving the unresolvable" through Nonviolent Communication.

This book exposes some very deep and troubling approaches we take when dealing with each other in every day life. We self sabotage our communications by building walls that have no purpose. This book effortlessly tears down these emotional constructs, biases and shines a light on a far more productive and frankly beautiful approach that empowers and centres us. Seriously worth the time. I will read it again and again.

I instinctively distrust self help books. This book is different.

I loved the topic, but I was bothered by narration.
Disclaimer, I have misophonia, meaning, I have issues with certain souds, most commonly people chewing with their mouths open, smacking lips etc. It enrages me instantly. It has always been like that. The way the narrator talks, you can often hear the saliva smacking in his mouth and it's frankly difficult for me to pay attention to what he's saying.
I have ADHD so audiobooks are the way I mostly learn new things, as reading can often times be too dull for me.
The content is superb tho, and I'd definitely recommend everyone to read it.

Good topic, not so good narration

As a man who spent over a decade in a very violent and destructive field, 'non violent communication' was rare, and became an ingrained behavior.

Listening to this book helped me to see how I expressed myself and how that may be counter productive in the world I now live in.

I have no doubt that I shall listen to this book many times, I think it is a must listen for anyone who wants to change their temperament to a more peaceful one.

A potential life changer

I found this book really helpful when I was going through the breakup of a long term relationship. Marshall's voice is calm and soothing. It helped be too reflect on the way I communicated and to be more sympathetic towards my partner. I'm now trying to apply these principles to other meaningful relationships in my life. It's not easy to unlearn unhelpful communication habits. I listened to it twice. I think I'm getting better at it.

I wish I read this sooner
