Summary

Hardcore Self Help: F**k Depression is the follow-up to the best-selling F**K Anxiety. In this book I take the information, tips, and insights that I have gained as a psychologist and translate them into language that doesn't suck. This is the self-help book for people who don't usually like self-help books.

In Hardcore Self Help: F**K Depression, I talk to you like a friend. That means I speak directly to you, without psychobabble. Instead I tell you why your brain is such a troll. I explain why you have literally no energy or motivation. I tell you why people are so terrible at offering help. Best of all, I tell you how to take realistic steps toward solving these and many other issues caused by depression.

I downloaded the audiobook version which was definitely a good call. I found myself listening before bed which, funnily enough, is when my depression feels the worst. Duff talks to you in a straightforward manner, almost like a friend. Naturally, as a Brit, I found some phrasings a little cheesy and OTT friendly but this wasn't a big deal. This book goes a long way in helping you feeling 'normal' in the sense that you'll be able to nod your head at stuff that he says and relate. There are a few exercise, and even if you don't follow them to the letter they are still useful. The main takeaway is to fight your depression head on and this book provides some understanding and means to do just that.

loved this, the way it is told, the way it just makes sense. From someone who suffers depression and gets bouts of it from time to time , this book is a reminder on how to cope again and seek the help if it gets too dark.

fu*k this helped

I have had a pretty bad breakup with someone who has destroyed me as a person and caused me to come down with depression.
Listening to this has helped me come to terms with what has happened and has helped me come to terms with my depression.
It has helped me to label what it is and to own it and move forward with it.

Helped me with a break up
