Your thyroid gland is small but mighty. This little butterfly-shaped organ that sits in the front of your neck affects almost every organ in your body. You can thank it for regulating your body temperature, helping you lose or gain weight, aiding in your breathing, in developing your brain, controlling your cholesterol, supporting your heart, regulating menstrual cycles, keeping your skin healthy, and so much more.

When your thyroid stops working correctly, your body can experience some incredibly distressful and sometimes painful side effects. Sometimes the thyroid gets damaged and does not produce enough hormones for your body to function correctly. This is called hypothyroidism. It is often caused by an autoimmune disease, like Hashimoto's, and can cause you to gain weight, feel extremely tired, dry out your hair and skin, make you less focused, and slow down metabolism. On the other hand, your thyroid may become over-stimulated and produce too many hormones, which is called hyperthyroidism. Autoimmune diseases, like Grave's disease, can cause this and can make you lose wanted weight, be less tolerant of temperatures, have an increased heart rate, and experience frequent diarrhea. There are various methods of treatment for thyroid problems; some that are drastic like removing the entire gland, and others are a simple supplementation for a while. Not all problems need to be treated and some resolve themselves. One method for controlling your thyroid levels is to control what you eat and when you eat it. If you are taking medication it is important you time eating certain foods correctly with when you take your medication. Also, some foods interact poorly with your body and thyroid while others do sometimes when eaten in certain ways or in certain quantities. There are also foods that do wonders for the equilibrium of your thyroid.

This is an amazing little audiobook

Beginning with simple definitions and a quiz to help identify possible thyroid problems, this book walked me (a total novice) through the science behind my thyroid, suggested meal plans and even recipes designed to maximize my thyroid health. With so much information to convey, the audible format helps to break it into manageable sections and the recipes are easy and doable

Very good description

The book first provides a very solid and descriptive biological review of the thyroid and its hormones. The first few minutes are also dedicated to the symptoms, and testing for common thyroid disorders. The explanation of the thyroid gland and the hormones may be overwhelming for a reader without a prior introduction to the endocrine system.

Useful book!!

It clearly defines the condition and offers good advice on how to talk to your doctor. It covers all the different factors that can be affecting your metabolism from genetics and food allergies to stress and insomnia, with helpful advice on how to combat these things from an individualized approach.

I am extremely happy to listen to this book.

This is a great introductory book for anyone who is coming to terms with thyroid problems. The introduction section gives a simple but complete explanation of how the thyroid works, and why some people have trouble with their thyroid. I appreciated the clear description of all the hormones and chemicals involved in my thyroid - I've never understood my body so well!

Thyroid Diet Plan will help you understand what can happen when you or someone you know suffers from a thyroid condition. My aunt had a thyroid condition when I was young and it caused a lot of stress for all of us; Most of all, my aunt.

Easy to follow

Extensive meal plans and recipes are provided that are especially directed toward regulating metabolism and maintaining good thyroid health, which will also be of general interest to readers seeking a healthful lifestyle. Great guide

This audible offers a simple explanation of the thyroid gland, everything that can go wrong with it, and how—through diet—it can be managed. The diet plan offers advice on what foods help regulate the thyroid and what foods to avoid. The recipes book fun and exciting.

Excellent

This book, however, was different. It is described so much differently in a way that is easy for the regular person - who didn't attend 7 years at medical school - to understand. I felt it outlined certain aspects in a clear concise manner, and gives clear examples of each point being made.

This is absolutely the best one

The author painstakingly describes many of the symptoms of thyroid disease, the dietary and environmental factors that may cause them and goes on to detail the various treatment options available. The author proceeds to lay out a sensible diet and exercise plan to get one's metabolism under control which is the key to helping those suffering from thyroid deficiencies to live healthier and happier lives.

This is a very useful and informative book.

I found it to be quite educational in explaining how the thyroid works, why it is important to keep it in good working order and how that can be accomplished through practicing a sensible diet and reasonable exercise as well as utilizing the proper medication to regulate one's thyroid function.
