Summary

Wish You Were Dead is a Quick Read short story from best-selling author Peter James.

Roy Grace and his family have left Sussex behind for a week’s holiday in France. The website promised a grand house, but when they arrive the place is very different from the pictures. And it soon becomes clear that their holiday nightmare is only just beginning.

An old enemy of Roy, a lowlife criminal he had put behind bars, is now out of jail - and out for revenge. He knows where Roy and his family have gone on holiday. Of course he does. He’s been hacking their emails - and they are in the perfect spot for him to pay Roy back.

Very underwhelmed

As a regular reader of this author I looked forward to this. What a let down. Gothic horror in modern dress with well known characters shoes in, maybe an experiment but if so write under a pseudonym snd other characters . I felt let down by a writer I normally enjoy s as nd recommend

Excellent.

This is a most enjoyable short story. I am slowly working my way through the Roy Grace books and when I saw this short I thought I'd try it next. Set abroad, Grace and his family and friends are taking a break from his crime fighting job but find themselves mixed up in a most alarming mystery. Good charcters well voiced by the narrator. Definitely recommend for all Peter James fans and many others who enjoy a good mystery. *****

About Time Roy Grace Retired

Oh dear! What a disappointment. Where do I start? Well firstly I thought it strange that this title was released after Roy’s son Bruno had died and yet in this he was very much alive. However, the storyline was so weak and made me think that the chaotic and disjointed way they obviously booked the holiday and the bumbling way he dealt with the litany of mishaps and errors there were, it was time to hand in his papers. I have pretty well every Roy Grace audiobooks and found this extremely frustrating and downright boring. I’m glad I pre ordered it at a modest price otherwise I would return it.

Awful

I am a big Peter James/Roy Grace/Daniel Weyman fan and thought I'd get this short (and inexpensive) book as a 'filler' between listens. Honestly, I had to stop listening halfway through as the story was getting ridiculous. Stick to series and don't waste your time on this one.

A must-listen for Grace fans

I'm not usually a fan of short stories but as a Grace fan I had to listen to this. Master storyteller Peter James has managed to tell a cracking story in just 2 1/2 hours.

Roy Grace and his family, plus nanny and her boyfriend (one of Grace's team) go on holiday to a French chateau, but their relaxing break turns into a nightmare. The book is fast paced and Mr James packs a lot into this short book. The story isn't particularly complex but it is gripping and it made a nice change to see Grave without his team. A must-read/listen for Grace fans and a fun short story for those who haven't yet discovered the series.

Dissappointing

This short book lacks the usual gripping content of Roy Grace books. Won't put me off though!
