Monty Bannerman's father is a leading genetic scientist and Nobel Prize winner whose company has just been taken over by what will soon be the world's biggest pharmaceutical giant. He had some misgivings about their company ethics - but ultimately, he needs their money, and they need his mind.
Then a journalist comes to Monty's door, with a far-fetched story about the pharmaceutical company. She doesn't believe what she's being told for a moment - but within a few short weeks, events are making the apparently fantastic claims look horrifyingly like the truth.

Good book read it
Loved it. Interesting strange story. Really good. Narrated extremely well. Really held my imagination. Who thinks this stuff up!!!!

went a bit off the rails at the end
interesting story overall, but I started to lose interest at the end.
there's a small mistake in editing about 3/4 of the way through which really threw me.
not a bad way to pass the time, and a very interesting idea overall.

great story
this is a well written story that makes you think. Content is actually enough for a series of books rather than one long one. Peter James is a great author and it always good to have subject matter that is new and not predictable.

Great story - very long - struggled a bit
I liked the storyline - a bit gory at times - could be frustrating that it jumped through the years - easy to loose track and had to take it back a chapter a couple of times, just to understand what was going on.
It did keep me gripped though
Great narration - accents were spot on and totally believable.
I would recommend this - having not read the author before - I will try another to see how I get on .

Gripping
Well constructed. Liked the change in timelines. Wonderful narration. Satanic stuff a bit cranky. None the less kept me gripped.

kept me intrigued
I loved this book but sadly the resolution to the story left me a bit..... oh was that it... I guess it did what it was supposed to, but the last chapters left me disappointed that something far more interesting could have been the answer.
