Story
It’s been 120 years since the 50 or so worldships containing the few million survivors of the human species set off after the planet Earth was destroyed by a meteor. On the Worldship Humility, Sam, a 30-year-old Airlock Operative, is bored. Living in space should be exciting and full of adventure, except it isn’t, and he fills his time hacking 3-D movie posters and holographic adverts outside the stores in the retail zone. Petty thief Yasmine Emile Dufont is also from the WS Humility, but she is not bored....

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

As anarchy and civil war took grip across the globe, Britain was quarantined. The press was nationalized, and martial law, curfews, and rationing were implemented. It wasn't enough. An evacuation was planned. The inland towns and cities of the United Kingdom were to be evacuated to defensive enclaves being built around the coast and the Scottish Highlands and in the Irish Republic. For George Tull and the other residents of the Waverly-Price Retirement Home, walking to the coast is not an option.

Summary
A Message from The Author
Writing The Undead is a humbling experience. I am eternally grateful to the readers and listeners for the incredible support you always show.
Dan Morgan superbly narrated Parts 1 to 10, but unfortunately he was not able to continue. To my delight, the wonderfully talented Joe Jameson has now taken the series on. His range and skills are superb.
I am aware of the feedback about the voice of one of my characters, Dave. If this change has upset your listening experience then I can only apologise, but both Joe and I, and everyone at Audible, have listened to the points you made and take them very seriously. It is a wonderful thing to have such responsive fans, so willing to listen and work to make it better, plus the interactive nature of the series means you the listener can speak out and say what you like and don't like, otherwise how would we know?
We've got some cracking days ahead of us. Some real stonking rip-roaring storylines to come and both Joe and I can only hope you'll stay with us on this journey.
Take care,
RR Haywood.
After the carnage of the night and dealing with an infected Lani, the team leave the fort and once more venture into rural towns to find food and buy time. As the day wears on, the tension between Howie and Marcy grows, with increasingly petty arguments that sap the morale of the others.
They find a deserted village where the infection strikes in vast numbers. With too many to fight head-on, the lads flee and take refuge in an old mansion. Meanwhile, Marcy and Howie become trapped in a house, and the scientist riding on horseback stumbles across the village.

Another 3 great books More please!
If you could sum up The Undead, Part 13 in three words, what would they be?
Gripping, touching characters
What did you like best about this story?
Camaraderie between the team and the introduction of new characters there is so much more story to be told as it turns and weaves.
Have you listened to any of Joe Jameson’s other performances? How does this one compare?
All the Undead books are great and strong profmances.
Any additional comments?
It took a while to get use to Joe Jameson narration especially with Paula voice, but accepted now and doesn't spoil the whole experience. Just don't be too long in releasing the next 3!

Getting better and better
What made the experience of listening to The Undead, Part 13 the most enjoyable?
Howie and Marcy when they are alone, Clarence looking after Reggie, and meeting one of my favourite characters for the first time
Who was your favorite character and why?
thats like asking me to pick my favourite pair of shoes, but Meredith, Howie, Blowers and Cookey are pretty near the top
What about Joe Jameson’s performance did you like?
Hes found his stride, it must be so hard to take over after so many previous books, and hes getting more into it with each episode.
In my personal opinion the books get better and better, (day 20 anyone? wow) so he has some excellent storylines coming up.

A little disappointed
Very rarely do I write an opinion but I am a little disappointed with this narrator. The original narrator made me fall in love with the characters each one had a distinctive voice and personality that was felt through the voice. The new one I have a hard time figuring out who is speaking until they say their names. It ruins the whole experience for me

Went really fast
I've grown used to Joe by now. Dave's voice is still off and the little boy is annoying, but I'm in the groove now and Joe is moving things along. The story thus far is exciting and has me guessing what happens next. I'm not pleased with the turn of events with "her" but I get it. So day 17 took me less than a week to finish. So, now I wait for day 18. Hint hint.
