Summary

You trust me.

You shouldn’t.

That picture you just posted on Instagram? I’ve seen it.
The location you tagged? I’ve been there.

You haven’t been careful enough, have you?
Because I know all about you.

But when I meet you, I won’t tell you that.
I’ll pretend. Just like you do.

You’ll like me, though. You’ll trust me enough to let me into your life.

And then I’ll destroy it.

Insignificant details overpowered a simple story!

The story is simple and predictable but it was dragged on and on with insignificant details!
The investigation doesn’t make sense when the husband only first ever shown the picture of ‘Anna’ on press release! He should have seen it when he was first interviewed, and on cctv!
Shame, as I like Annabel’s previous books..

CONFUSING US/UK ACCENT GAVE A LOT OF THE PLOT AWAY

I really enjoyed this book - the narration was excellent BUT the decision to make the narrator think in an English accent and speak in a US accent was unusual to say the least. Basically this book sadly is not really suited to be an audo book as it makes it quite easy to deduce things due to the accents. I think it would have worked better for the author to have rewritten it to be narrated and make the central character English and just having lived in the US and then she could have thought and spoken in the English accent and it would not have really been a huge rewrite either and would not have spoiled the plot. I was delighted that the whole narration was not in an American accent .......... but it did not make a lot of sense. Tough one and I did really enjoy it DESPITE this but it would have been so much better for listening and keeping the reader guessing if it had been all in the one English accent. Great twists and turns but as with so many thrillers the plot reveal did not quite live up to the premise of the book and it was a little implausible but I recommend nonetheless as very well written, original, gripping and plot well crafted. Deducting a star from the narration not from the point of view of the read which was excellent but for the split UK/US technique.
