About this listen
‘Utterly compelling.’ – Judy Finnigan
Audrey Bailey will never forget the moment she met Ralph Templeton in the sweltering heat of a Bombay café. Her lonely life over, she was soon married with two small children. But things in the Templeton household were never quite what they seemed.
Now approaching 70, and increasingly a burden on the children she’s never felt close to, Audrey plans a once-in-a-lifetime cruise around the Greek isles. Forcing twins Lexi and John along for the ride, the Templetons set sail as a party of three – but only two will return.
On the night of her birthday, Audrey goes missing…hours after she breaks the news that the twins stand to inherit a fortune after her death. As the search of the ship widens, so does the list of suspects – and with dark clues emerging about Audrey’s early life, the twins begin to question if they can even trust one another…

There was excitement, intrigue and romance, hateful characters, complex issues and it simply ripped along both in India and Cornwall painting a vivid picture of two generations, their motivations. priorities and sense of duty.
It was a gentle story in ways and it gave me pause to think about some deeper issues as well as enjoying the twists and turns.
Was it a teeny bit unlikely? Yes but not so far fetched that it spoiled an excellent story.
I really enjoyed it and also loved "I know You" also by Annabel Kantaria - but due to the plot and different nationalities I would recommend reading rather than listening to "I know You" for maximum suspense as accents sort of give away some of the plot.
I thought Jessica Ball did a great job of narrating "The Disappearance" though did get a bit annoyed by several pronunciations especially Pitchure instead of picture but apart from that it was a very likeable performance which I feel suited this book very well.
I was really sorry when I reached the end and felt a real pang of regret - a true sign of having really enjoyed an audiobook!
Looking forward to the next Annabel Kantaria book and hope there is one on the way.
Fabulous Feelgood Mystery - Enjoyed it so much!
