Summary

Overcome anxiety, stress, nightmares, flashbacks, and panic attacks and take back emotional and mental control with dialectical behavior therapy.

Dialectical behavior therapy, or DBT, is a form of cognitive behavioral psychotherapy that aids in the treatment of borderline personality disorder. However, since its development in the late 1980s, dialectical behavior therapy has been used for treating other kinds of mental health issues and disorders as well.

In this book, you will be able to use dialectical behavior therapy to your advantage, so you can not just survive, but also thrive in life and relationships.

Here’s what you’ll get:

  • Learning how distress tolerance skills can help you thrive
  • Overview of cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy
  • How dialectical behavior therapy can help you develop mindfulness, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills
  • How dialectical behavior therapy can help with anxiety, panic attacks, stress, worry, flashbacks, nightmares, and other traumatic stress symptoms
  • And so much more...

Studies have shown that with the help of DBT, you are able to identify and label emotions, reduce vulnerability to emotion, increase positive emotional events and mindfulness, take proactive action, apply distress tolerance techniques, and a whole lot more.

Experience the benefits of dialectical behavior therapy for yourself!

Highly Recommend

I am a therapist who leads DBT groups. This book is a practical introduction to the underlying theory and major skills. Be aware that Van Dijk uses different acronyms than Linehan to teach the skills. However she maps her skills to Linehan's making it easy to compare the two.

Helpful Book

I needed a resource for a project. The book was cheaper than purchasing a journal article and it was very informative. I finally have a decent understanding of DBT. At the very least a point of reference to be able to dive deeper into it.

Well worth the money and informative

Amazing book, so helpful for BPD. Best I've ever spent and wish I'd found this book a lot sooner.
Easy to understand for any listener, I don't know why patients aren't recommended this by professionals while awaiting therapy. I bought another book alongside this and this is definitely the one which is easier to understand and follow.

Easy to listen, follow with some great learning

Still working my way through this book, I have read a few CBT books and I am new to DBT but have found this very interesting reading with many useful tools. Would recommend it so far if you have anxiety issues.

Practical and useful

A very practical workbook to help you work through the dialect behavior approach. The approach differs slightly from standard cognitive behavioural therapy but is still rooted in practical, usable skills. Written with the lay person in mind and with a minimum of jargon.

Highly Recommended

A very good workbook that you can use on your own or with your therapist. As a person who has been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and who has struggled for many years with emotional disregulation, I have found this book extremely helpful and I would recommend it highly.
