Summary

Could this be the end for Heck?

The Sunday Times best seller returns with an unforgettable crime thriller. For fans of MJ Arlidge and Stuart MacBride.

Don’t let them catch you....

A Deadly Hunt

DS ‘Heck’ Heckenburg has been tasked with retrieving one of the UK’s most wanted men. But the trail runs cold when Heck discovers a videotape showing the fugitive in a fight for his life. A fight he has no chance of winning.

A Dangerous Game

Heck realises that there’s another player in this game of cat and mouse, and this time they’ve not just caught the prize: they’ve made sure no one else ever does.

A Man Who Plays with Fire

How far will Heck and his team go to protect some of the UK’s most brutal killers? And what price is he willing to pay?

Critic reviews

"Edge-of-the-seat reading...Heck is formidable - a British Alex Cross." (Sun)

"Wonderfully dark and peppered with grim humour. Finch is a born storyteller and writes with the authentic voice of the ex-copper he is." (Peter James)

"An ingenious and original plot. Compulsive reading." (Rachel Abbott)

Shock and Surprise regarding the ending

loved it, I was very surprised that the plot took the twist that it did. Please don't kill her off, let her live. Beautifully read and written. Can't wait for book 8. I have thoroughly enjoyed every single book. Can't listen to them quick enough.

Brilliant, fantastic. Paul Finch at his best and once again perfect narration by Paul Thornley. Surely this can’t be the end of Heck.
Please Mr Finch write another instalment.

Warning - don’t read the reviews below!

I’m a huge fan of the Heckenberg series and this story is as outstanding as all the others. I am so hacked off that some reviewers have felt the need to include blatant spoilers in their reviews. If listeners want to know how the story ends, they’ll listen and find out for themselves! I’m really glad that I didn’t bother to look at the reviews first. If you’ve listened to the rest of the series, then all you need to know is that the writing and the story are as excellent as usual and Paul Thornley’s narration is 5* as always. If you haven’t listened to the previous six books, then start with book one and work your way through, you’re in for a treat. You might want to take some time off work though because I’m pretty sure that most people will be hooked and riveted from start to finish.

Brilliant Book Heck at his best

I have listened to this book in 2 days. Thank goodness I had a huge pile of ironing to justify the time I was listening. It was a totally absorbing book. Paul Finch's books are getting better and better and I cannot wait for the next Heck book. The story was gripping and would have been a real page turner if it was in the written form, as it was it was compelling listening. I really enjoy books that are not full of padding - character assassinations - childhood reminiscences - darts to the past etc, that are all over worked, just to fill pages, this book does not have that. The story is fast moving and has some real twists and turns. Paul Thornley reads it so well and he is my go to book reader now. Enjoy.
