No publicity, no media. We move in silently, do our job, and melt away into the background. If you have the stamina, the willpower and the guts, we'll welcome you with open arms and make you one of us. And if you haven't, then it's been very nice knowing you. Eighteen years in the SAS saw Pete Winner, codenamed Soldier 'I', survive the savage battle of Mirbat, parachute into the icy depths of the South Atlantic at the height of the Falklands War and storm the Iranian Embassy during the most famous hostage crisis in the modern world.

Story
SAS trooper Matt 'Lastman' Standing is a lethal killing machine with experience in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. Plus he's worked with French in the past. It's not a mission he wants, but Standing made a bad choice in his past, and it has come back to haunt him. Now he's hunting French in the lawless Wild West forests of Humboldt County, where the US produces most of its legal - and illegal - cannabis. But French isn't the only predator in the wilderness - there are Mexican cartels, Russian Mafia and Hungarian gangsters - and Standing has to overcome them all to get to his target.

A life in the SAS, Story by Story
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This book takes elements of SAS training and puts a storyline to them.
What did you like best about this story?
I like the way that I felt I was there ... almost
Have you listened to any of Paul Thornley’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Lots - I am a real fan and having run out of Andy McNab books I have now found Paul narrating Stephen Leather. All equally exciting and I think Paul really plays a major part in keeping my interest.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It is a bit long - I do a lot of driving and some of the stories being about 90 minutes the length of each section was ideal.
Any additional comments?
Keep up the good work Paul - I will keep listening to the books you narrate !
