About this listen

Was the biggest case of his career the worst mistake he ever made?

Ten years ago, DCI Jack Logan stopped the serial child-killer dubbed "Mister Whisper", earning himself a commendation, a drinking problem, and a broken marriage in the process.

Now, he spends his days working in Glasgow's Major Investigations Team, and his nights reliving the horrors of what he saw.

And what he did.

When another child disappears a hundred miles north in the Highlands, Jack is sent to lead the investigation and bring the boy home.

But as similarities between the two cases grow, could it be that Jack caught the wrong man all those years ago?

And, if so, is the real Mister Whisper about to claim his fourth victim?

A Litter of Bones is the explosive debut crime thriller novel from JD Kirk, an exciting new voice in Scottish crime fiction.

Hands down one of the BEST crime thriller books I've had, and I have a stupidly large collection of them!!! Totally fantastic, I couldn't stop listening. Roll on the next one!!!

I’m an avid reader of Crime Fiction & this one really hooked me from the very beginning. Gritty, dark & pretty disturbing at times.
Realistic characters who had the right balance of empathy, frustration & humour!
Thoroughly enjoyed the setting between Glasgow & Fort William & particularly loved the audible version read with the different Scottish accents.

A thoroughly enjoyable listen & well performed. I got this book to 'give it a try' because I loved the authors other sci-fi-funny books, I'm glad i did. Excellent plot, characters nicely detailed with a serious story line & a touch of dark humour. My next audible credit is going on book 2.
WELL DONE MR BJH 👉👉

I enjoyed the story immensely and it was very well written.
The dialogue and characters were extremely descriptive.
The fast food shop chapter was hilarious the rest gripping.

I found the narration brilliant.
Despite being on holiday at a pool in the Algarve I was in the Highlands in the rain.
Cheers for that.

terrific narration of a gripping story.

This is the first Audible I have listened to that was based in Scotland and read by a Scotsman and it was brilliant! The small colloquiumisms made me chuckle. I have listened to Ross Greenwood's fantastic DI Barton series (thank you audible for that excellent suggestion), but there was just something, as a Scot, that made this listen even better.
I found myself warming to the characters and quickly became invested in the storyline. The tension that builds has you on the edge of your seat!
Thoroughly recommend - I'm off to get the next DI Logan Scottish Crime Thriller book.
Enjoy

Right from the get go I was hooked to J.D. Kirk’s landscape, prose and believable true Scottish dialogue, brilliantly narrated by Angus Lang, the depths and darkness of his voice and expression, lightened by the comedic scenes provided superbly as they weaved through the wealth of characters telling the story.

Totally love DCI Logan, his humour, his determination, his temperament and interactions with the other strong characters who all bring the book to life. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series.

J.D. Kirk is a spellbinding crime/thriller writer who embraces the often treacherous environment, backdrop and imagery of his stunning native homeland, making the whole experience of reading this novel both immersive and sympathetic.

An atmospheric debut with solid characters and landscape

My wife is a big fan of JD Kirk and has read all his books on Kindle. Because of her recommendation, I have started to listen on Audible. My eyesight is deteriorating, so Audible is how I 'read' books nowadays.

I enjoyed the story, but what I most enjoyed was the superb performance of Angus King. Probably the best narration I have had the pleasure of listening to since I started using Audible. And there have been a number of excellent readers.

Brilliant Narration!
