Love this book, feel like we should all let out our inner Hoon from time to time.
Great story, great narration and here is to many more adventures with the colourful Hoon. J D Kirk has a knack for story telling in a very funny and dark way, unputdownable and devoured in practically one sitting, I must learn to pace better to prolong the enjoyment and yet.. I fail everytime when caught up in the story. Highly recommend if you like dark humour, grumpy, sweary, cantankerous, slightly mad anti hero’s, well this is a good place to start.
You shouldn’t love Hoon, but ultimately you do end up doing so. Under all his armour he has a real heart.

If you can bear with both those then you are in for a treat. Well characterised and written with humour that had me laughing out loud. Especially at the “hoonerisms” that became a favourite.

I was sad when it came to an end but I am looking forward to the next instalment. :D

If graphic grisly details and a stream of foul language puts you off then best give this a miss…HOWEVER…

Jd Kirk has to be my favourite author. I had been looking forward to this book and it didn't disappoint. Hoon is such a great character and I can't wait for the next one.

So glad Hoon got his own books. He was one of the standout characters in a series full of brilliant characters

This story was brilliant. Enjoyed every moment of it. Well written and well performed just like the Logan stories by Angus King. Loved the Hoonisms and really looking forward to the next in the series

How on earth does Angus King do all those voices? How does he even remember which one to use?? Such an amazing reader. Thank you to Angus for bringing the story off the page.

Full of detail as are all JD King’s books.
The main character, Bob Hoon, swears… a lot. I almost returned it due to to that, but it actually helps define this angry, past middle aged ex-cop.
The main theme of the story does not end, but the side stories are ‘fun’ & leaves me awaiting number 2.
