You can bury the bodies, but you can’t hide the truth.

When a landslip on Pembrokeshire’s stunning coastal path reveals the harrowing remains of two bodies, ex-DCI Evan Warlow’s quiet retirement is shattered.

As the original investigator for the two missing persons eight years before, Evan is recalled to help with what is now a murder inquiry. But as the killer scrambles to cover up the truth, the body count rises.

Working with a new young team, Warlow peels away the layers to reveal the dark and rotten heart that beats beneath the chocolate box tranquillity of an area renowned for its quiet beauty.

But does he still have what it takes to root out the monstrous truth before all hell lets loose?

The Engine House is the gripping debut crime thriller set in the heart of wild Wales from author Rhys Dylan. Perfect for fans of LJ Ross, JD Kirk. JM Dalgliesh and Simon McCleave. Celtic noir with a spatter of dark humour.

It's not a bad yarn, with good characters, but the narration was terrible. He was so slow, and sounded drunk at times, Could have knocked an hour off the listening time. It's a shame I won't be listening to book 2, same narrator.

Not bad story, but hated the narration.

I really enjoyed this book. It was gripping and just the right amount of personal lives along with the professional side. I thought it had a great storyline that kept me intrigued right to the end. Plenty of twists and full of anticipation. Some quite emotional parts too. Narration was excellent, the voices were spot on. Perfect tone and pace.

I thoroughly enjoyed this and would certainly recommend it. The story was engaging from the outset, full of twists and turns, I loved the main characters. The narration was very good and what even better was the Welsh pronunciation - excellent. This happens so rarely and was done so naturally. Looking forward to another by this author.

Brilliant!

Once ‘I was in’ I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the book. The narration was very good.

The characters were well drawn but in spite of that it took a while to find any interest in the story.
