Excellent Advice

This audio book is just what I need, it’s well read, well constructed, easy to understand and the advice is superb. The Narration by Tom Haig is probably one of the best I’ve heard as a lot of audio books are very robotic and digitised.

I’m going through a break-up with a lady that I
truly adore, we are remaining friends, which to be honest I’m finding difficult as I want her back. The advice in this audio book is guiding me and is a great help.

Thank you Oliver Heath.

Highway Code

I found it like reading a manual, perhaps that was the intention but in my view it really did not address the emotional aspects.
There is far too much, do this and this will happen (wtf do you do if that doesn’t happen)

The narration was very poor, repetition.

I will read it again and hopefully reflect and give a more positive update but although some useful tools and concepts it did not live up to the title for me.

An important step towards accepting my reality

The fact that I took the courage to begin looking at such a painful subject area that was well and truly ruining my life is something I am exceptionally proud of. I feel I absolutely needed to hear the reality of the situation spelled out to me: the relationship is over. The latter still sends a bolt of electricity through my body, but I absolutely need to hear it if I have any hopes of recovery at all, and hey, it's just a chemical, remember?

The book itself is clear, concise, helpful, and practical. I certainly do recommend this for anyone in my position, and although none of the suggestions provided the magic cure I was after (sadly), I have no doubt that these will pay off, should I persevere.

I truly am proud of myself for facing such a distressing emotion head on, and I do hope that other readers will be too.

To balance this review, I feel I ought be completely honest about some areas of imperfection:

-Although this book was marketed towards men, I don't feel there was anything at all that signified that within; not so much a criticism, but I'm saying this in hopes that women won't shy away from the idea of reading it.

-Where I wouldn't call the editing 'poor', there are a considerable amount of repetitions/badly timed cuts within. Again, it's not a deal breaker, just something to be aware of.

Regardless, it was a worthwhile listen, and one I hope helps a lot more people.

Good reference guide for coping with the stress and anxiety of breaking up

I am 58, and just come out of a 32 year marriage, then went straight into a toxic rebound 1-year relationship, so have had a lot to deal with over the past 18 months. This is the first of this type of book I have listened to all the way through, and in half a day too. The narration feels non judgemental, which really helps. There are some excellent coping, & moving on mechanisms in here. Most of which you may have seen before, however, the explanations as to why you should use them and when to use them, sets this book apart. Don’t get me wrong, nobody likes to hear, the harsh realities of why a relationship did not work, especially men. But these were handled with empathy and real logic. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars was because I felt at times it was aimed at someone in their late 30’s to late 40’s. That aside, I would recommend this book which will help you come to terms with not only what happened to your relationship, but why, and more importantly, how to move on with confidence.

I really needed this!

I was going through a breakup and this book comforted me. I can definitely relate my feeling with what it is written, and I think everyone needs a piece of healing advice in those times in their lives. He did an excellent job of describing how you can get over a breakup and let the hurt goes.

Even a hero can always break out of a tough spot!

I can't express how much it helped embrace, feel, absorb and transform the pain that I had hidden from a broken heart. To transform the pain into strength, motivation, purpose and never give up soul!

It does takes patience, courage, forgiveness along many other actions that one needs to take to be pull out of our own sadness. The author does a great job of explaining the concepts of dealing with emotional pain.

something very important that hook me up was the explanation of the brain's chemical roles, the knowledge shared help forgive myself as I'm an individual with untreated ADHD. In my previous relationships' experience I ended blaming it all on me, analyzed the past and and start the same blaming actions to myself.

Took me 10 weeks to find this book from the time I was dealing with the pain from my past relationship, but it took me 3 days to let it go and start the healing process. I'm grateful for this help offered as I started focusing on my plans, working out at home, eating healthy, reading other resources for personal growth, understanding relationships, being a superior man, and breaking out the Cycle!

Thank you!

A must read

An amazing book that is gives you the background and road map on how to push forward through a break up with someone that has a strangle hold on your heart and heads. No good relationship can be based on sex alone, don’t kid yourself. Perhaps the next edition can touch on telling the difference between lust and and when there is true love and how to detach and give up the good mind blowing sex for sanity.

It hit the spot

Going thru this situation has been the most difficult hurdle ever. And I'm still there. Even though I knew very early that this would come, it still hurt like hell. I brought this on my self, and hurt people along the way. Words and actions that can never be taken back or mended is the worst to face. Now I have tools and actions that will keep me on track, and focused.
Tank you so very much, this book is a life changer...

Spot on advice!

This book hit so close to home for me. I only wish I read this book when I was going through the actual break up of my 24 year marriage. I’m a few years late to the table but I took away many topics that will help me going forward. If you are going through a break up, especially if you are not the one ending it, read this book now. Don’t wait like I did.

Great insight and glimpse behind the curtain.

👍 👍 Excellent if you're working through a broken relationship. The Moving Forward chapter is most helpful esp when a marriage with children has ended.
