Summary

If you are a senior and you want to gain core strength and stability, then keep reading.

Do you struggle with everyday tasks from getting out of bed in the morning to losing your balance when you are cleaning your house, or maybe you just don’t have the energy that you used to? This is very common in the senior population. My grandparents were slowing down and had difficulty mowing their lawn and cleaning their house. I really wanted to make a difference because I hated seeing them decline when they still had so much life to live. I helped them incorporate some of these core strengthening techniques and exercises; they now have more energy and are able to perform these tasks much easier. Sometimes it just takes education and a little encouragement to make big changes in your life.

A study was done by physiotherapist Nishad Abdul Latheef Majida on a group of seniors over the age of 65. The seniors were given a core-strengthening exercise program for six weeks, and the overall results demonstrated that the core-strengthening program improved functional mobility, improved balance, and decreased the risk for falls.

Great book!

I was looking for something for my mum for her to follow as she is not as active as she used to be.

This book has lots of advice and tips for seniors to be as active as they feel comfortable to build muscle strength. My mum's personal favourite is the chair exercises chapter.

She likes this book as she can listen and follow the directions easily.

A great resource to have for all seniors.

Just what I needed and more!

You will be shocked with how important core strength is. I am very thankful that my friend gave me this book so that I can reduce my risk of falling and other injuries. The author does a great job showing you how to do the exercises safely and gives you tricks to make it part of your daily routine. Highly recommend to anyone who doesn't do a lot of exercise and might be scared to start now. This book will give you the confidence to start improving your energy level and balance today with small, easy exercises.

Very Informative!

I let my dad listen to this and this gave him idea on his next exercise routine. He said that this was really helpful especially he started gardening. It would really help him strengthen his core. Great guide for senior who needed some clear step-by-step exercise routine. Everything is written well and good content overall.

Keep active

The best resource for anyone who isn’t as young as they used to be! If you’re looking to get active and strengthen your core! Step-by-step instructions on how to get started. Training, and keeping mobile as we age is essential. Works really well as an audiobook. Nice work, Ruth!

Got this for my dad!

My dad is elderly, although active, limited on what exercises he can perform due to his age. I am his main carer, so I was glad to come across this book. I am now teaching my dad key exercises which will deliver the best return on health and longevity. My chapter1 was my favourite and I took away a lot of lessons not only for my dad, but also myself to start practicing today. This is great overall health/lifestyle book for the middle aged and elderly folk. Highly recommended.

A caring book!

Seniors will enjoy reading this book! While a person who has never exercised before senior age can begin an exercise program to maintain strength and stability at any age, it's great to know that it's never too late. Further, this book teaches us how to exercise regardless of our age; we are all capable of living a healthier life and we need to take care of our bodies through diet and exercise. I highly recommend this audiobook. It is super-helpful. Definitely worth the listen.
