Story
The United Kingdom is an ancient land steeped in history and tradition, filled with prehistoric ruins, majestic castles, and a countryside sculpted from millennia of human habitation. Its rolling countryside is dotted with prehistoric burial mounds and stone circles. Medieval churches have elaborate stained glass windows and gruesome carvings, reflecting a mixture of hope and darkness. Every hamlet and village has tales that go back centuries, and folk festivals with roots in pagan times. Thus, it is not surprising that many believe the area is filled with ghosts.

A bumper packed collection of short stories
I absolutely adore short story collections like this . There are so many included within this collection that there will be something to appeal to every reader. Whilst I enjoyed some more than others all were highly enjoyable and well written. Although the book states that all stories are completely true I will always be sceptical but either way each story had me interested. I was given this book by the author/narrator in return for an honest and unbiased review

Dreadful Reader
Content wording a tad over dramatic, with the word "allegedly", used way too many times for what are meant to be TRUE ghost sighting accounts.
The reader has zero emotion while explaining the different stories. Quite monotone and dry. I wish I'd sampled the book first before wasting a credit on it.

Is it a computer narrating this?
I really love ghost stories and this collection is quite a good selection of stories but the man narrating really ruins it, it sounds stilted, like a computer generated voice or as though the person is learning to read and sounding out the words, syllable by syllable, so the sentences sound very "flat".... there are lots of parts where the narrator should pause but doesn't, and there are pauses where there shouldn't be any, some sentences don't make sense and stories lose suspense due to the lack of inflection and the monotone voice. I have heard some of these stories in other anthologies so was thankfully able to skip some chapters and fell asleep through others. I really tried to finish the book but unfortunately couldn't due to the narrators awful reading.

Not good, I'm afraid.
I found both books in the boxset to be fairly run of the mill. The narration in the first book was truly awful, with poor inflection and bizarre pronunciations to say the least. The narrator's voice wasn't in keeping with the subject matter, either - it would be better suited to a young child's book. The narration in the second book was markedly better, but still not great. Overall, I found this to be more of a chore to get through, rather than an audio book to enjoy.

Good Collection of Paranormal and Demonic Tales
As a fan of all things haunting, I really enjoyed these brief paranormal stories. As typical with collections like these, some are well known and others are less. While the stories depict scary events, they aren’t scary to listen to and the book is over before you know it, leaving you wanting another. Reminds me a lot of documentaries I watch on ghost stories and paranormal events.
I had heard the first book in this box set and enjoyed relistening to them as it rekindled my interest in some of the events it talks about. In general, this was a good mix of paranormal stories. There were a few like Amityville and Winchester House, which while interesting, have been documented so many times I feel like adding them to a collection is unnecessary. The second book, I hadn’t heard and really enjoyed the demonic stories. I liked how one even talked about a possible reason for a story in the first book. Glad I listened while at my computer because I was pausing and looking stuff up constantly.
Nathan Hansen did a good job. I thought he had a good tone and cadence for this type of book since this is told as a matter of fact story and doesn’t involve characters, I was quite happy with the narration.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

I enjoyed it for what it is
As a a big fan spooky stories and horror anthologies, I would recommend this book.
I've seen other reviews take issue with the sources and some of the stories discussed are very well known already. I'd have to agree with that; some of the more famous stories don't add much to the book. Unless. you've come across some new info on a high profile case, it's best to just skim over them and focus on stories readers probably haven't heard of.
That little critique out of the way, there are many stories I found entertaining. I was especially pleased to hear the few new tidbits about stories I already knew. I also really liked this was a 2-in-1 set. Those are always appriciated by budget conscious readers like myself.
Is a book of ghost stories going to leave you coming away feeling like this book changed your life? No. So I'm not sure what other people are expecting, but I enjoyed it. If you like supposedly true ghost stories and other creepy stories, I think you will too.

don't bother
I was very disappointed in this all the way around. The stories may have been scary at one point, but the way it was written and read it was more like listening to a clinical study on a subject that just isn't interesting. With the warnings/cautions/etc that seems to happen before the stories even began i was revved up a bit to get listening to the stories..... i was sooo bored i had to turn it off and listen to other things just to keep awake.

Ghost stories of "true" events,, but a fun read!
*This book was given to me by the author at my request, and I provided this voluntary, unbiased review.*
3.5/5
I do love a good set of dark/ghost stories, so I couldn't pass this up. It was a little bit different than what I was expecting; this was more of a documentary-style reading of reported ghost stories from around the world. While I did appreciate the research done to bring these stories to life, I would be hard pressed to call these "plausible or likely to have happened." I realize the title <Real ghost stories> is a literal figure of speech (the stories are real as spoken, but the events are probably not), but I was still a little put off by some of the language used. Examples are such as "there's no other explanation, except the supernatural," or "This is a true story/the <supernatural> events happened." I would be fine with an agnostic type of view of the events as presented, but the author clearly has a slant in the writing that I was rolling my eyes at by the end. Mentioning the bogus made-for-TV Ghost Hunters/Adventures and using that as a sort of "evidence" made me take off a star.
Even with those flaws, it was an alright book. I would recommend with caution, but still recommend it.

The Scares of the Two Narrators
** This audiobook was provided to me for free in exchange for my own personal honest review **
This was definitely an interesting book for me to review. All the issues I had with the Narrator and Ms. Tidy's writing choices were all solved and dealt with for the second book that was included in the package.
The first books narrator was very difficult for me to listen to. His pacing was fine, but it was very distracting for listening to the source material. I had some gripes with the first books writing choices. It felt very much at times a wikipedia article, but at others felt like it had a narrative decision from the writers perspective. I skipped many chapters.
When I got to the second book however, that's when the REAL SPOOKEMS begun. I REALLY enjoyed listening to the many stories presented, especially the last chapter. The Narrator did a great job presenting information without drawing attention to himself over the source material. A+ for him.
I'd recommend this audiobook. However, I highly recommend people to skip the first book if the Narrator is too jarring to listen to. The second book is where this audiobook holds its value.

Ghost Stories 2 box set
If you are a fan of this genre, you will recognize most if not all of the stories contained in this box set. Each of the stories are well known and commonly found in many collections. These tales are told in the third person and many of the comments by the author are told as if these stories are positive proof of ghosts and other dark things. Whether that is true or not I leave up to you. These two books seemed to be summarizing information from other versions of these stories and did not add anything new.
I was not a fan of either of the narrators. The narration of the first book is very excited and perky and not a good fit for the stories. The second book sounds as if a robot is narrating and in much of the narrating you can hear extra breaths in the beginning of the sentences alongside mispronounced words.
