Summary

I interview my neighbors in our shockingly haunted town Wellesley, Massachusetts and I transcribe their tales for my blog Ghosts in the Burbs. Three women told me a horrific tale from their past and in doing so involved me in their horror. You may have heard part of this story before but I didn't tell you everything.... This is the complete story of Claire.

Most of this story is in the podcast

... but it is still awesome! I love Liz's voice and couldn't imagine anyone else narrating.

I don't think I am the target audience

this felt to me like a "friends" paranormal soap opera. I couldn't like any of the characters, even the narrator. Each of the characters appeared to be overly self indulged.

WHAT THA F#!%!!...LOL

Hey Liz, I LOVE this book. I listened to it in one sitting. (well pausing it when my family needed something...) I listened to your podcast as well in like 4-5 days from the very beginning. It's so awesome to hear this all together. At times I had the exact reaction you did to the experiences your neighbors/friends/witches had. Thanks for the scare Liz. I know this will be a repeat audible and of course your podcast. Goodnight and I wont forget my nightlight!

wonderful gem

I have never listened to the podcast and heard the ghostess of Two Girls One Ghost podcast mention this book and Liz's podcast. I made it to the book first. the audiobook is worth the money! The story is intriguing and I can't wait until the next installment!!

Exactly my kind of scary!

I'm going to review the book and podcast as one in the same here. I am a horror junkie. I can't get enough, and Liz writes the exact kind of horror that I love the most. She makes it all feel like it could really be happening in my own neighborhood. As a wife and mother, she just gets me, and what will keep me up at night (besides my kids). I've listened to the entire podcast at least 10 times, so I don't know why it took me so long to get this book, but I'm so glad my adhd finally allowed it. If I could give it more stars, I absolutely would!

Great for new fans

This is a great read if you haven’t already listened to Liz Sower’s podcast, where she’s already shared these stories. I was expecting to hear new stories that are specifically about Claire. 95% of the stories here have already been told on the podcast, and some have nothing to do with Claire. There’s a story included from the podcast to explain how the main character and Claire could connect, but this entire chapter could have been summed up in two or three sentences instead of wasting an entire chapter retelling an old story. I’m definitely disappointed.

Great story but same as podcast

As a listener of the author’s podcast I was super excited to see she had a book of one of her stories. I was hoping for more that hadn’t been shared on the podcast. Unfortunately it was basically the exact same story with a few additional thoughts. It’s still a great story and definitely worth a read but a little disappointing if you are wanting more of Claire’s story.

Should’ve listened to the reviews

Those who also listen to the podcast were right this is not any different than the podcast. The addition of Claire’s thought were interesting but at times I found myself frustrated that I paid for the audiobook when there are complete sections that are verbatim from the podcast. Liz is a great storyteller I just wish this had been more original.
