The Son of Tarzan is Edgar Rice Burroughs' fourth novel in the Tarzan series. First serialized between 1915 and 1916 in All-Story Weekly, it was published as a novel in 1917. Narrowly surviving his encounter with his enemy Tarzan in The Beasts of Tarzan, Alexis Paulvitch has a score to settle. He lures Tarzan's son Jack away from London and captures him, only to have Jack escape into the jungle that Tarzan once called home.

A great safari comes to Africa to make a movie, struggling across the veldt and through the jungle in great ten-ton trucks, equipped with all the advantages of civilization. But now it is halted, almost destroyed by the poisoned arrows of the savage Bansuto tribe. There is no way to return. Ahead lies the strange valley of diamonds, where hairy gorillas live in their town of London on the Thames, ruled by King Henry the Eighth. And behind them comes Tarzan of the Apes with the Golden Lion, seeking the man who might have been his twin brother in looks—though hardly in courage!

This is the fourth story in the Tarzan adventure novels. This time it is the son of Tarzan, the young Lord Greystoke, who leads us away from the sheltered shores of 19th century England, back to the primitive jungle. Young Lord Greystoke quickly asserts his natural authority in the jungle the way an heir-apparent might ascend a throne but not without a few painful lessons. Accepted by his fellow primates, they rename him, Korak “the killer.”

This is the second story in the Tarzan adventure novels. Tarzan has been in England where he has been learning about civilization, his heritage and how he fits into it all as Lord Greystoke. Fate thrusts Tarzan back into the primeval jungle and as he returns to it, his adventures begin with a shipboard altercation. Evil Nickolas Rokoff, the recipient of Tarzan's wrath, swears vengeance and puts a price on Tarzan's head. But Tarzan has greater concerns on his mind as he leaves modern civilization behind to discover a hidden ancient civilization.

Betrayed by a band of international conspirators, Tarzan is drugged and left to die in the jungle. But then a quirk of fate delivers him into the hands of the frightful priests of Opar, the last bastion of lost Atlantis. La, High Priestess of the Flaming God, spares his life once again, driven by her hopeless love for the ape-man, only to find her act rewarded by the betrayal of her own people. To save her, Tarzan flees with La into the legendary Valley of Diamonds, while Jad-bal-ja, his faithful golden lion, follows. Ahead lies a land where sentient gorillas rule over servile humans.

Tarzan had renounced his right to the woman he loved, and civilization held no pleasure for him. After a brief and harrowing period among men, he turned back to the African jungle where he had grown to manhood. It was there he first heard of Opar, the city of gold, left over from fabled Atlantis. It was a city of hideous men - and of beautiful, savage women, over whom reigned La, high priestess of the Flaming God. Its altars were stained with the blood of many sacrifices. Unheeding of the dangers, Tarzan led a band of savage warriors toward the ancient crypts and the more ancient evil of Opar.

No man had ever penetrated the Great Thorn Forest until Tarzan of the Apes crashed his plane behind it on his solo flight. Within he finds a beautiful country. The action is set during World War I. While John Clayton, Lord Greystoke (Tarzan), is away from his plantation home in British East Africa, it is destroyed by invading German troops from Tanganyika. On his return, he discovers among many burned bodies one that appears to be the corpse of his wife, Jane Porter Clayton. Another fatality is the Waziri warrior Wasimbu, left crucified by the Germans. Maddened, the ape-man seeks revenge not only on the perpetrators of the tragedy, but all Germans, and he sets out for the battlefront of the war in East Africa.

Jungle Tales of Tarzan is a collection of 12 loosely connected short stories written by Edgar Rice Burroughs about the title character, Tarzan.

La was in trouble. The high priestess of the Flaming God in the ancient city of Opar—forgotten outpost of Atlantis—had been betrayed by her people and locked in the eon-haunted dungeons until Tarzan came to rescue her. La still loved Tarzan, but Tarzan brought her to his people and then left her. Now, together with a strange woman of Tarzan’s kind, she lies bound in the tent of an Arab slave trader, dreading her certain fate. Meanwhile, Tarzan is beset by a strange band of men who have invaded his land…led by a madman bent on evil subversion!

This is the first story in the Tarzan adventure novels. The legend begins when Tarzan’s parents are placed on a jungle shoreline by mutinous seamen. Here they establish a crude residence and survive for a time until attacked and killed by a band of apes. But one female ape rescues the baby, takes it for her own, and raises it among a large socially organized tribe of great apes. The baby grows to be a noble man whose great strength and keen senses compel the world around him to bend to his might according to the “law of the jungle.”

Tarzan returns from WWI and his adventures in Pal-Ul-Don. The war has wreaked havoc on his finances and his estate - and he must once again return to Opar. Adventures abound with familiar foes in Opar - and new ones in a band of international rogues bent on getting to the treasure vaults before Tarzan. And there's a major new addition to Tarzan's family - Jad-Bal-Ja - the golden lion!
