It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. The world is suddenly thrown into chaos as a research project is sabotaged and the dead come alive to feast on the living - it seems like an old story, doesn’t it? The Apocalypse Crusade is not that book. You are not suddenly thrust into a world gone mad. Instead, you get front-row seats to how the sh-t went down. In real time you are witness to the agony and the horror…and the terrible stupidity that made it all possible.

The only reason i have an Audible account
The only reason i have an Audible account is for Mr Haywood's books. Sorry Audible.
Pure escapism, with a fantastic story line. Just bought the physical book for my friend in Hollywood who works at Boneyard Effects, I don't feel im being biased by saying to her that this is just SO MUCH better than the Walking Dead. Even in Mr H;s apocalyptic world, he creates heroes and heroines that are good, kind and you would follow to the end. There are many moments in this installment were you find yourself smiling, mostly again provided by Cookey and Blowers, many breath holding moments, I loved the hotel bit! and we are introduced to two beautiful women (rolling my eyes Haywood, rolling my eyes lol) I even feel a little bit of sympathy for Darren. Dan Morgan is again doing a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life, Clarence and Ted in particular sound exactly like i imagined. Mr Haywood, as always begging for more.

Enjoyed it but Darren's character was just too vile
A great story again. If the gratuitous swearing of Darren's character carries on to the next book I would have quit the series. It was too much and to be honest a bit uncomfortable. I'm ex military so used to bad language but this was another level. I now see it for what it was, a way to portray just how vile the situation was.

Darren's character
The one thing I disliked in this book was the part of "Darren". I don't know if the author thought it made the character more interesting or aggressive, to add the bad language and description of porn. well for me it didn't, I'm not easily offended at all but felt the author put these descriptive elements in to bulk out Darrens character, and to try and make him more interesting, it just made me fast forward as it's boring listening to repetitive cursing from a character that has no essence.

Still brilliant (SPOILERS)
Where most stories falter after such an extended time, especially such well worn ones like zom-poc, this remains outstanding. I am relieved Darren is gone; whilst I can tolerate the occasional "C" word, his overuse of it became not only highly offensive but also felt a very lazy way by the author of conveying Darren's zombie nature. You're far better than that Haywood. Its the reason a star has been dropped from my ratings. I hope it doesn't become that way with another character, it almost stopped me listening altogether it became so excessive. That would have been a real shame given the otherwise sustained 5* quality.

Stop thinking about it and just download it.
If you could sum up The Undead: Part 4 in three words, what would they be?
Amazing engrossing addictive
What other book might you compare The Undead: Part 4 to, and why?
You cannot compare this series to any other, it brings a zombie apocalypse to a new level
What about Dan Morgan’s performance did you like?
He is what brings the series to life
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
You will laugh cry and become so attached to all the characters you will want to be there to hug kiss and slap all of them all.
Any additional comments?
This is Definately a series that you will want to listen too more than once and you will want to make all your friends and relatives listen to it too. If you haven't got it in your library then you should have!

Disappointing
This book reads like weird fan fiction. The story is weird and kinda plods along and it feels like there are weird holes in the plot. Swearing and gay jokes don’t bother me. But this is excessive and just silly at times. This is by far the most disappointing book.
I may read the next one but this one has put me off the series this feels like it’s just going to get more and more ridiculous. And I don’t mind ridiculous I like it. It’s just that it feels like the plot is trying to be serious and it’s ridiculous if it was self aware of some of the silliness I don’t think I would mind as much.

Devolved from Campy fun to typical Male Fantasy
In a nutshell:
1. Dave is a funny character
2. Howie has a tantrum when "his people" dare to disagree with him.
4. After a certain number of gory, slimy, zombie smiting battles; I don't really need the nasty details anymore. A summary is good enough. "Our heroes fought against enormous quantities of zombies and won again".
5. Darren is whipped. Funny social commentary.
6. Why do so many heroes in zombie stories end up with gorgeous, VERY young girls?
Actually, I think I know the answer, but I had thought better of this writer.
7. Someone in this story actually got all warm and fuzzy while wishing he'd had an "alpha male" in his life while growing up.
8. Great narration.
9. I won't be listening to anymore of the adventures of Mr. Howie and Dave.
10. Bummer! This series had potential.

From a zombie's point of view
This book was definitely better than the third. Listening from a zombie's perspective really added to this book and was a twist I've heard in no other zombie book I've read/listened to up to this point. I actually looked forward to Smithy's chapters more than any others.
The narrator could be better. Although he's good with articulating emotions, I could not tell one character from the other. He is very easy to listen to, however.

Tried to finish, failed. End of series for me.
The Undead Part 3 was pretty boring. Survivors in a fort on the southwest coast. Blokes teasing each other. Every man getting embarrassed when some girl flirts with him. Lots of chortling. I still kind of like R.R.'s approach, because he likes camaraderie. Humans behave pretty well. Not every person's out to betray, steal, or kill fellow men. But we do have a smart, thinking zombie here, and, well, he's a bore. You'd think zombies on the Isle of Wight would be awesome. My instincts told me to stop after Part 3, but I gave it one more chance. Tsk. Tsk.

Can't get enough!
Just an outstanding series. I'm not a massive fan of the genre but just as The Walking Dead, this more about the character interactions and development than actual Zombie life (tho that is certainly included and is developing rather than just the same old mindless (lol) drudgery of your average Zombie story).
I've never been so addicted to a series - I'm on my second round of 3 extra credit purchases as there is NO WAY I can wait the necessary 16 days for the next instalment! (I will no doubt finish part 5 in a day or so)
I often use audiobooks as a bit of gentle lulling to sleep but was up till 3.30 this morning listening before I finally could bear to not extend that sleep timer 1 more time.
Hands down the best audiobook I've ever had the privilege to listen to and I have listened to hundreds.
Superb work by author and narrator alike.

When an author writes characters that you love to love or love to hate, then you know he/she really has something!
