About this listen

A deadly infection spreads across Europe. The Undead series: a terrifying account of one man desperately struggling to survive this harrowing event day by day.

Part two - days four to six. With a plan to rescue Howie's sister from London, Howie and Dave travel to Salisbury army training barracks to find an armoured personnel carrier that will see them safely through the densely populated and infected towns that lead into the capital.

Howie takes charge of a group of young army recruits they find at the barracks and leads them into battle, killing swathes of the undead. They meet Big Chris, an enigmatic former soldier who is leading a hastily erected commune in London. Joining forces they agree to help each other, going first for valuable medical equipment.

But the cost of rescuing Sarah may be too much. One of their own, Darren, has been turned...it may be the end of everything for which the group has fought.

What made the experience of listening to The Undead: Part 2 the most enjoyable?

Enjoyable listen while I go out jogging. Doesn't make too much sense from the perspective of an intelligent thinking virus that works as some sort of "hive mind" controlling all the zombies at the same time (human and animal alike) but a fun idea! Does get a bit carried away with the fighting scenes and not much in the way of the hiding / suspense from Part 1 but still good nonetheless.

At first I was not sure that I liked the idea of "The Infection" becoming a sentient entity. As the story progressed I thought that this may well raise this series above the generic zombie formula. Scary as hell.

As in the first book much of the story is written in the first person present tense (Mr. Howie). Hard to do well, but it increases the sense of immediacy as well as creating some unpredictability, since you don't know what will come.

The zombie slaughter becomes somewhat repetitive sometimes but the furor of the final battle is breathtaking.

What I did NOT like was a rape threat scene that was supposed to be hilarious. IT WAS NOT! Shame on you R. R.

I like that this story takes place in the UK instead of America like 90% of zombie books do.
it is a good story of a normal man finding himself in the middle of a very bad situation and rising to the challenge.
rr haywood is a good story teller and character builder.

great .. hordes of zombies gang of mismatch hero's what more can I ask for ... well maybe little more story line and less of the very detailed battle scenes . just a little mind you definitely enjoying this series so far. would definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed this story, I down loaded all the audible members books in the hopes of pacing them out. No luck, demolished two 10h books in four days.... Audible gonna make its money on this as the writer will have to mess up super badly for me NOT, to buy the rest of the series

Great, zombie fodder

I tend to find that these multi part books tail off at some point and lose their way. So far this hasn’t happened here and so I will definitely listen to part three.
The storyline has developed in a natural way and is interesting throughout. If you enjoyed the first book, then you will enjoy the second.
