Enter the Dreaming again as the blockbuster audio adaptation of “the greatest epic in the history of comic books” continues in The Sandman: Act II. James McAvoy returns to voice Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, in this sequel to the number-one New York Times audio best seller. Journey into a world of myths, imagination, and terror based on the best-selling DC comic books and graphic novels written by Neil Gaiman (returning as the Narrator), and lose yourself in another groundbreaking, immersive drama adapted and directed by the award-winning audio master Dirk Maggs.

In the absolutely packed Act II, the dark fantasy resumes and the Sandman expands into the French Revolution, ancient Rome, 19th-century San Francisco, eighth-century Baghdad, and beyond. New and familiar characters abound, voiced by a bright mix of performers, including Kat Dennings, Regé-Jean Page, Emma Corrin, Michael Sheen, Kristen Schaal, Brian Cox, John Lithgow, Jeffrey Wright, and so many more, including fan-favorite narrators Simon Vance and Ray Porter.

Just close your eyes and listen again as the greatest epic continues.

Act II of the audio series The Sandman adapts collected volumes four (Season of Mists) and five (A Game of You) of the comics in their entirety, and most of volume six (Fables & Reflections).

One of the best audiobooks I've ever enjoyed. Masterful acting from the cast and amazing story. Just as good as the first book.

OUTSTANDING!!

I love Sandman as much as the next nerd, having first read it maybe fifteen years ago in the trade paperbacks. But even back then I didn't quite get the side stories which only tangentially involved the sandman. They mostly came across as filler to me and an excuse for Gaiman to use his most flowery prose. Basically filler content just because Neil had an inkling to write about werewolves or a Roman emperor or Marco Polo or whatever.
When I first heard of this adaptation it was my assumption that these stories would be cut since they would seriously interrupt the flow of the story. But in both of these volumes they're all here, as far as memory serves. I understand the reverence for Gaiman's writing, I really do. He's brilliant. But my feeling is that these volumes would be better served by a slightly shorter running time only focused on the main arc, perhaps leaving all of these side stories for separate release for the super fans.

Also, I am not a huge fan of McAvoy in the lead role and the music is way too on the nose and overbearing. Other than that it's brilliant and I'm eagerly awaiting the next part.

Kill your darlings maybe?

The first two thirds of this book were brilliant - just like the first Sandman book. Lost me a bit towards the end with the final few chapters which felt as if they had been written by someone else. But, overall entertaining and atmospheric and with a star studded cast, couldn’t fail to deliver on performance.

Atmospheric and entertaining

I could wax lyrical about this audio drama, however, I will try to condense it. James McAvoy inhabits the role of morpheus excellently and the all star cast around him are simply amazing. Neil Gaiman and Dirk Maggs should be very proud of this project. I hope there is going to be an act 3.

WOW!

Once again, a perfect adaptation of the Sandman comics with such incredible riches in the cast.
