Summary

One Caribbean couples-only resort. Six friends who want to escape Brooklyn in the dead of winter. Two married couples. Two single fakers who hate each other’s freaking guts even though they accidentally made out once a million years ago, and now they have to share a freaking bed.

Love changes people.

I’ve seen what true love has done for my friends, and I want it for myself.

Somehow, I’m the only single guy left in our circle.

Somehow, Roxy Freaking Carter is the only single girl.

It’s the dead of winter. Our best friends are planning a getaway at a couples-only resort in the Caribbean, and I refuse to be left out in the cold.

All Roxy and I have to do is pretend we don’t despise each other for one week, in a room with only one bed, so we can spend some much-needed time with our favorite people.

We’ve been pretending we didn’t make out that one time at a wedding, so we both know how good we are at pretending.

All I have to do is convince Roxy that I’m not dying to kiss her again.

Sweet and funny enemies to lovers romance

This is a funny story- while Roxy and Keaton are enemies, they have a lot of chemistry (and it really leaps off the page- or, since I mostly listened to the audio, it leaps off the earphone?). Because they are the last single people standing (it was great to visit with characters from prior books, by the way. I really loved checking in with them) they have to “couple” up to go on a couple’s trip. During the trip, they try to hide their attraction to each other but we lucky readers get the excellent banter and fun situations that are trademarks of a Kayley Loring book. (I would love a book about Jackpot, the dog. At the very least, he needs to be a fixture in these books…)

I would listen to Teddy Hamilton read a phonebook but then, we have him actually reading a funny, sweet rom com? Sign me up! He’s been a fixture for Kayley Loring books (thank you KL) and I’ve loved all his narrations. This is no different. Excellent comedic timing, pacing, control of his voice to play multiple characters. And, well, Mackenzie Cartwright is another fantastic narrator for all the same reasons so having them together in this dual narration? The story is just really brought to life.

enemies to lovers trope

This is a great spin on the enemies to lovers trope. The author did a great job and making it seem fresh. The book was well written, the characters were very engaging, and the story was great. I thoroughly enjoyed losing myself in this book and look forward to more from this author.

The narrating team did an excellent job. I truly enjoyed their portrayal of the characters.

Must Listen

The Plus Ones by Kayley Loring is frenemies to lover’s romance that listened to on audio narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Mackenzie Cartwright.

I just love Kayley’s books! Her books are always a sweet romance with a Happily Ever After. I loved that this book had crossover characters from tonight you’re mine and come back to bed.

Teddy and Mackenzie are an amazing duo. I just love every book they have narrated so far! They really know how to bring a story to life.

Solid Read

Audiobook review. I actually listened to this before the interconnected story that came before it and I was glad I did it that way because after listening to the first, I may have come into this story with some preconceived notions about our hero, Keaton. Roxy was a good heroine. She knew what she wanted and was sassy as all get out.

The plot was good. The character development showed progression pretty steadily. It was all around a solid read.

Mackenzie Cartwright and Teddy Hamilton did a stellar job as they are veterans to narration.

Got sucked in completely by this one!

I love the combination of Teddy Hamilton and Mackenzie Cartwright. They lulled me so into the story I forgot I was listening to them. They brought the characters and the story to life so well.

I really enjoyed the set up of this story, from not quite knowing what they were to each other to where they ended up. I loved watching them go through it all and especially that we get to hear things from both their points of view, that always rounds out a story that but more for me. The story made me laugh out loud several times, just because I could see what was happening in my head, and I had gotten so engrossed with the chracters. I like where it ended up but I would have been happy to stay with them longer. A really lovely light listen with its fair share of steam. Oh and Jackpot just steals the scenes he is in, I could just see how he was behaving and it made me laugh out loud!

Love it!!

This reminds me of the show Friends, if it was a sexy romance instead of a comedy. The Plus Ones is funny but it's sexier than it is funny (thank you). I think the characters are relatively relatable because either you are the last married of your friends or you have that bestie that's still single. I really enjoyed listening and will listen again and again because it delivers that feel good feeling. The narration, if you aren't familiar are top notch and it shows in this performance. 🎧Audiobook Obsession 🎧

I loved this story

The Plus Ones is the latest novel by Kayley Loring and another fantastic page-turner. I've loved every book I've read from this author and this novel was no exception. The Plus Ones is a romantic comedy that's sure to make you laugh out loud. It included both enemies to lovers and fake relationship trope and I was hooked from beginning to end. The novel was hilarious, steamy and sweet. I absolutely loved Keaton, Roxy on the other have took some getting used to as I really disliked her attitude in the beginning, however that did not stop me from fully enjoying this story. The appearance of the other couples from the previous books was an added bonus and I loved catching up with them. This novel was a fantastic read and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of romantic comedies.

I listened to the audible version of this novel which was narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Mackenzie Cartwright. These two have easily become two of my favorite narrators and they were absolutely perfect for the role. They did a fantastic job with the narration, their pace and timing was excellent and they infused the right amount of emotion into the story. It was a pleasure listening to them narrate this novel.

Fun and sooooo good

I love this story about mouthy Roxy and sweet Keaton, they are so different but matches perfectly.

No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Good and so fun dialogues, Wetpantiesface 😂
Some secondary characters I’ve already read but the others I would love to read about too.
Talk about slow burning love story..........that finally ends in all the happiness we all want to have.

This is a standalone but part of a series.

Narrators:
Clear pronunciation and read with feelings and passionate without going to fare. A really good listen that made me forget about everything.

I recommend it very much.

It’s funny and sexy with lots of witty banter

Roxy Carter has been avoiding Keaton Bridges since they kissed in their best friends’ wedding five years ago. Now she has no choice but to spend time with him since she agreed to pretend to be his girlfriend so they could both get into the Caribbean couples-only resort their friends are vacationing in.

This is one audiobook I enjoyed listening to! It’s funny and sexy with lots of witty banter. The chemistry between Roxy and Keaton is fantastic and I was rooting for them every step of the way! I especially loved learning words in other languages that can’t be translated.

Mackenzie Cartwright and Teddy Hamilton performed beautifully. Their performance, along with the awesome writing, made this audiobook a pleasure to listen to.

The Plus Ones is a fake relationship, enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance written in dual first person POV. It ends with a HEA. No cliffhanger, no cheating.

I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
