Editors Randy Chandler and Cheryl Mullenax put the call out to horror writers and editors of extreme stories, the hardcore stuff that breaks boundaries and trashes taboos, the transgressive tales you can't "unread" (as Chuck Palahniuk says). Some of the stories you'll find here are loaded with very graphic descriptions of violence, sex, and depravities, while others may contain only one shocking moment of brutality. In others, the hardcore aspect may be less graphic and subtler than you might expect.

A great creepy horror
This is the first of Lee Mountford’s work that I’ve ever read/listened to. It certainly won’t be the last!!
The Mark is a fast-paced, suspenseful horror story. L. Mountford has written The Mark in such a way that it gets you thinking as you read, it makes you pause and reflect from time to time, or at least pause and look over your shoulder. I did this more than once!!
The Mark is a creepy and unsettling read, one of the best I’ve encountered for a while. That said for me I think the book/eBook would have been better for me, why? Because I don’t feel that the narrator does the book the justice it deserves, more annoyingly I can’t quite put my finger on why I feel like this. To me, it just felt off.
But don’t let that put you off if you fancy the book. I intend to get myself a copy of the book; either in eBook or paperback; and read it myself, after I’ve read some of Lee Mountford’s other work.
The actual writing of The Mark is really good. It’s easy to see that Lee Mountford has put in effort, research, thought and emotion whilst writing this. His characters have a good level of depth and are realistic.
It’s easy to become totally immersed in the world that Lee Mountford has created, and his words grab your attention and hold you there in the thick of the plot until the very end.
Overall this is a great creepy, check over your shoulder horror book. I’m looking forward to discovering more of this authors work!

The Tension Mounts To A Devastating Climax.
A young woman is violated in her own home and is left with a demonic symbol carved into her back. From this point onwards the horror is gradually ramped up for her and her friends. The great narration adds perfectly to the drama. The end provides twists and turns a plenty. A well written, engaging and satisfying listen for horror fans.

Summoning Deamons has never been so PERSONAL
If you have the capacity to believe in evil, and the supernatural then it is an easy jump to believe in The Mark, normally to raise the evil, its a book or artefact, but Lee Mountford's book he simply cuts it into you,
Te concept of this read was great, I sadly felt it was almost rushed and wanted more, perhaps a couple of Stephen King fillers would bridge the gap from The event. to finding the culprit. I was intrigued throughout,, yes the concept I liked , and the Narration By Hannibal Hills kept me focussed and into the work. I felt the book could be extended by a few hours to satisfy my thirst for blood. Jim

A good solid supernatural story
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
The Book
The concept of the story is good and suitably creepy, you'll find yourself turning pages quite quickly to get to the next part of the story. The swearing is a bit overused at times but otherwise it manages to set a very eerie atmosphere, the initial attack feels quite fraught and subsequent character reactions are generally realistic. The horror aspect of the story is well done and if you like a good supernatural read then this one may be for you.
The Production
Narration is clear and quality is good, the music at the beginning was suitably spooky and fitting to how i'd imagine the story should be and unlike some titles didn't continue over the start of the narration. He tries to do voices and puts a reasonable amount of emotion into the narration so it isn't completely flat, not all the voices are great but its a valiant effort.

Mountford hits The Mark with this
This isn’t my first Lee Mountford story and it won’t be my last. He tells a wicked story and just when you think you know where things are headed, you quickly realize you don’t have a clue. This book perfectly depicts the classic mythos of demon cults and secret societies in a unique way.
The story is very fast paced and goes by very quickly, something Mountford does exceptionally well. I really enjoy how he gets quick to the horror and throws you into chaos right away. I love a good demonic story and with all of the other aspects of this story you get a nice rounded supernatural horror. Mountford doesn’t beat around the bush and just straight up tells you a great story.
As this story takes place over a few days, there isn’t much in character development with the exception of Kirsty. The plot itself is about everything surrounding the mysterious symbol combined with Kristy’s development of either staying a victim or becoming a survivor. Mountford can really describe a disturbing situation and this is filled with plenty. It gets a bit graphic with Mike, but I think his story is told exactly as it should have been. This delivers thrills until the end and wow was that a great ending.
Hannibal Hills has an excellent creepy voice, so if you want a horror story read to it should be from Hills. His voice has the ability to get you stressed out and on the edge of your seat. His narration and accent makes everything a bit more intriguing and holds your hand as he leads you down a dark narrow hallway.

Love it!
I loved so much about this book. The way everything was detailed, made it super easy to imagine the story. Even though most of the scenarios in this story would be horrifying to experience, the reactions of the friends made me laugh, out loud, a few times because the reactions were stated in such a way, that made them believable and raw. Overall...... great story!

Solid Horror
I had not listened to the first book in this series and I had no trouble keeping up with 'The Mark' so they are right when they say this is a stand alone book! I would listen to Hannibal Hills narrate the phone book, to be completely honest. He's just, really, really good at what he does. Seriously, listen to this book just for his performance.
The story itself was a pretty good take on a demonic tale. While it has some issues with plot holes and cliches, none of that took away from my enjoyment of this one. If you like supernatural horror, this is likely right up your alley!

The story is very well written and thankfully there isn't a lot of time and details spent on the torture. It's fast paced and doesn't let up. The only issue i had with this book is the narrator. Hannibal Hills. He's done great work on some other books i've listened to but i didn't feel he was a good match for a book from a woman's pov. and there could've been a little more emotion there. However,I will still continue to read or listen to more from this author.

Super Creepy With a Great Performance
This story was intense from the go, as a woman already a survivor from one kind of horror finds herself flung down into the depths of a far more horrific scenario. As with most horror you need a little suspension of disbelief for it to fully take hold, but once you're past that step you start thinking about what happened and how it did and wondering if such a thing could come to pass in reality. It was also relatively short, which is good for that as well, grabbing you by the throat screaming 60 miles an hour forward through scenes of horror and peril with little time to calm and depositing you breathlessly at the finish line.
Some narrators really fit the horror style and Hannibal Hills is one who's going on my list. Not only does he do a good job of voicing the characters, he adds emotion and drama to the story and rather than just transcribing it in a different medium aides it to go beyond it's original form.
I received the review copy of this audiobook at my request and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Super creepy!
Lee Mountford seems to love creating these creeptastic storylines that make you wonder about so many things. I love when an author stretches the realms of possibilities and really makes it work! I mean, The Mark, seems like a totally outlandish storyline but really had me questioning what if... I love stories that make you think... that make you wonder. I feel like this is somewhat an addition to Tormented. However, it isn’t necessary to read or listen to it before The Mark. I do think that some of the background would be helpful. But that’s IF they really are related and while the storyline is similar it has some important distinctions too.
The plot was incredibly fast-paced. I need that in horror or really any type of suspenseful story. Mr. Mountford is great at adding in extras to bump a calming heart rate! The narrator, Hannibal Hills is amazing!! His voice is perfect for horror and/or supernatural storylines. The voice itself seems to give me the chills. The only thing that I wish was different in the narration is I would have LOVED some added noises. The scratching or scuttling... the bumps of the night... I think a few of those added in noises would have accelerated my heart and upped the anti just a bit more!!

There were some very intense and scary parts where I felt my hair go up on the back of my neck. If you are looking to be scared then absolutely listen with the lights out!! I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Great Story
I really enjoyed this story. I have enjoyed all of the books from this author. This particular story involves demon possession, like no other. I do not wish to spoil the story, but this particular possession can be passed on to others. The story’s main character is searching for the truth behind this possession. You will have to listen to this exciting story, if you wish to know.
