Summary

Dear Fiona,

I hope this letter finds you well - and by well, I mean significantly less infuriated than you were yesterday. I’ve wanted to continue our conversation from the night we met, but there are so many things I can’t say or do, now that I’m your professor.

As an anonymous letter writer, I can give you some idea of what I have planned for us, once the year is over. As an author, I can share my work in progress with you. Not for you to critique but to show you how much you mean to me.

When you’re done reading this page, destroy it - and then write me back. Don’t sign the letter. Don’t put a return address on the envelope. Mail it from a random mailbox.

Yours in problem solving,
Me

P.S. I still think you’re wasting your talent on that historical romance novel.
P.P.S. I really wanted to push you up against the door and kiss your beautiful, angry face. I will. One day.

***

Dear Emmett,

Your handwriting is almost as terrible as your mood swings, and it would have been my instinct to destroy that letter even if you hadn’t ordered me to.

If you show me your work in progress, I will critique it.

I am currently still too infuriated to write about all the other feelings I have for you.

Expect another letter soon.

Your problem and your solution,
Me

P.S. I still think an overpaid, overrated, overly handsome best-selling author of thrillers has no business teaching creative writing at a prestigious New York university.

P.P.S. To my great horror, I really wanted you to push me up against that door and kiss my angry face too. I understand now that your appalling way of treating me in class has been overcompensation, but I don’t forgive you for it. I’ll kiss you again anyway. One day.

*This audiobook is mostly dual narration with portions that are duet-style.*

Love, love, love it!!

Fiona and Emmett. Both authors. Both having writers block. Both at the same diner. When they meet, it's like magic for a night. But when Fiona walks into her classroom and sees who her professor is, we know there is going to a problem. Another Kayley Loring original has me laughing, crying and loving every minute of this amazing story. Fiona is such a feisty woman. She may be a little younger than Emmett, but she is not afraid to express what she wants. Emmett is fun to watch as he transforms in this book. From sullen to happy, it's a joy to hear. But I have to say, what I love most about this book is the way it's written. Books within the book with outspoken characters, love letters to heat you up and melt your heart, tropes like teacher student and age gap all had my interest captured. This is probably my favorite of her books so far, and I have loved every one! It's a phenomenal listen and should be a one click for all those that love a wonderful romantic comedy.

Now for the narration. I think Loring had each one of these voices in her mind when she wrote the book because a better cast could not have been found. Each one fits the personality of the character perfectly and adds that something extra that audio brings to our ears. The movie in our minds! It's a pleasure to listen to and I have to mention, Connor Crais as Goliath just had me in stitches. Kudos to this amazing team Loring put together!

Funny, unique, quirky, swoony, and completely fantastic!

The Love Interest by Kayley Loring is fantastic. It has two author main characters writing two very different novels, of which chapters are shared with the reader, and there is some art imitates life in those chapters. I felt like because both Emmett and Fiona were authors, the whole book was written a little different. With more description and feeling, more author-y, as that would be their internal voices as well as writer voices. This story is different. As Fiona says, you are living in three parallel universes at the same time, and it works. It works so well. This story is so entertaining, a unique fun read, funny, quirky with swoony lead and lovable heroine. Oh, and there’s a 4 foot Rooster. Give this one a read or listen, it is so so good!!

I knew when this book was releasing, I needed to wait for the audio. I love being right. Teddy Hamilton was perfect for Emmett. Seriously, he had all the perfect tones for all of his moods and feelings and he made the character even better. Mackenzie Cartwright does Kayley’s leading ladies so perfectly I can’t stand it. These hilarious lines are delivered so spot on that you almost can’t believe what you just heard. And I love her timing and tone. Now, Connor Crais and Shane East were so great on their parts as the extra stories being written. All the perfect drama and snark!

Perfect combination

Start out with Kayley Loring add Mackenzie Cartwright and Teddy Hamilton, Don't forget the sides of Connor Crais and Shane East with a dash of a four-foot cock. Serve as is, no need to heat, it's already hot.

What a delightful wickedly funny romcom

Kayley can write some seriously insane romcom. You get the main characters’ POV but then she has chapters of the books they wrote and those characters are totally stole the story from Teddy and MacKenzie. I can’t decide if it’s Connor tough guy grumbling or Shane’s cockney snarks I like more. This story up ended so many tropes and kept the sexual tension fresh till it finally combusted. If you are looking for a funny, snarky and fresh story look no further. Bravo Kayley!

Definitely one I'll listen to over and over.

Another 5 star book by Kayley Loring. I've already listened to it 3 times.
It's such a unique story and one of those books that you can go back to any time.
I physically swooned when I heard Teddy voicing Emmett Ford. Actually all the narrators deserve 5 stars each for their performances.

One of my favorite listens this year! 5+ stars!

Kayley Loring so knows the way to my audiobook-loving heart! Not only does she give listeners a beautifully-penned romance, but she's chosen four of my favorite narrators to take part in it! Squeeeee! The Love Interest is the audiobook, written by Loring, of course, and the main narrators are Teddy Hamilton and Mackenzie Cartwright and features Connor Crais and Shane East. Listeners are introduced to Emmett Ford, a thirty-five-year-old bestselling novelist currently suffering from writer's block, and Fiona Walker, an aspiring romance writer who happens to be ten years his junior. He hasn't been as taken by any woman as much as he has by Fiona--not since he lost his first love a decade prior. She's more than a spark of inspiration for his writing, but it's almost as if Fate is playing some cruel joke because just as he's found her, he realizes nothing much can happen between--not as long as she's part of the MFA Writing Program...and he's the substitute professor for one of her classes!

S-W-O-O-N!!! There was some serious swooning going on, and as always, reading and listening to this book are two different but equally swoon-worthy experiences, but then, that isn't really much of a surprise since Loring doesn't seem to go wrong when it comes to the tales she weaves and the narrators she handpicks to bring them to life. Emmett and Fiona were totally adorable--or totes adorbs as I've heard the younger peeps say--and I appreciated that their story didn't play out the way you'd expect. Hamilton and Cartwright could probably narrate as well as they do in their sleep, but it never feels as if they're phoning it in. The addition of Crais and East was like that dusting of chocolate shavings on top of an already perfect sundae, making it all the more delectable. For anyone out there who happens to be new to the author (seriously?!), this can be listened to as a complete standalone and is a great starting point to introduce yourself to her writing. Five-plus stars for The Love Interest. Times ten.

Wow...

I always enjoy a book when it surprises More than just a rom com it had a sweet story. Definitely a slower burn , which are not my favorites, but I didn't mind it one bit. It fit with the theme of the story. I've listened to all of the narrators before and enjoyed them all. Shane's Cockney and Serious Teddy were my favorites.😉
A definite re listen.
