Summary

When five college friends cross America in a minivan to find themselves, they chance upon a road that isn’t on any map. They can’t resist exploring it. The van breaks down. They find a town, a massive trailer park steeped in squalor. The town isn’t on any map either. They find people in town. They’ll wish they hadn’t. The only sanctuary is the Big House - a giant mansion at the center of town that appears to be abandoned, only all the lights come on at night. Inside the Big House is the secret of the town. Inside, they’ll finally find themselves. They won’t like what they find.

Not a book I enjoyed . Too American weird style

Style of narrative more suited to those of USA language style unconnected poor Grammer and story children horror.

If you like dumb Horror movies, then you’ll like this

If you’re looking for a book to enrich you or challenge you or lead you on an exploration of uncharted ground, then you probably won’t like this book. However, oh I am a fan of the horror genre and this book is a solid example of the genre.
It’s short and does it’s job and left me satisfied

Your insecurities and Fears revealed

If you could sum up The End of the Road in three words, what would they be?

unnerving, scary, and thought provoking

What other book might you compare The End of the Road to and why?

This book kind of made me think of Texas Chainsaw movies as the people in the trailer park town were these strange messed up rednecks.

What about Christian Rummel’s performance did you like?

He did a very good job with the Story. and I really liked his Southern Cal girl voice

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When they were in the mansion and they saw themselves in distorted mirrors revealing their true fears and selves.

Any additional comments?

I has listened to Craig DiLouie's other book Suffer the Children which was such a good book. It made me want to buy this short story. If you have not listened to Suffer the Children it is a must have. It is narrated by R.C. Bray who is my favorite narrator.

Don’t recommend

The story had no logical pattern. While the narrator did a fine job with the material, the story itself made no sense.

Garbage

The best thing I can say about this audiobook is that it is barely an hour long. Unfortunately, that’s an hour out of my life that I cannot get back. The story, if you could call it that, has no redeeming qualities. The characters are completely unlikable and act like they have the intelligence of a rock. The voice acting is terrible. The writing is childish and amateurish. In a word, this is crap. Don’t waste your time on it.

Good Story

The book was a good story. If they would have made the storyline longer and more into the characters it would have been better. Good idea but needs to be expanded on.

Odd story

This book had an interesting concept. It did fail in the development of the plot. I found it rather anticlimactic at the end. The crazy things occuring in this story seemed to be setting up for something big! I was underwhelmed. That being said, the story was certainly set up for additional installments. Additional stories that allow for the development of the story, and might be able to salvage the story.

Odd and entertaining short story

This short story was original, entertaining, and really freaky. I don't think I could look at a small town in the middle of nowhere the same ever again. I'll make sure to lock the doors and get out of there as fast as I can! :)
