About this listen

In the beginning, there was darkness.

Before he met Callie, before he became the Bargainer, there was Desmond Flynn, the bastard son of a scribe. A boy born to a weak mother, cursed with little magic, and destined to marry a slave. But fate had something else in mind.

Till darkness dies.

From the barren caves of Arestys to the palace of Somnia to the streets of earth, this is how Desmond Flynn, a fairy who began with nothing, became the Emperor of Evening Stars.

This is a novella told from Desmond Flynn’s perspective.

Loved hearing from his perspective! Feels like it might work better as a tandem read instead of listening after. Continued character development and world building.

I really loved the storyline of the previous books too and its nice to see/hear Des' backstory and the male narration is so stunnig, could be used in all the books. Love the buildup of all books, the storyline is very engaging, love the characters as well.

great narrattion, great story

Really enjoyed the backstory for Desmond which included his birth and life in poverty with his mother. This included his mother's death at the hands of his father which was mentioned in the previous book.
We also found out how Desmond rose to become ruler and bargainer and also how he found Callie and why he disappeared for seven years.
There was a new narrator as this was from the male main characters pov. Narration was absolutely superb. One of the best fantasy male narrators that I've heard on here.
Overall a really enjoyable and worthwhile book to the series and definitely worth a read before continuing the series.

Great to hear about The Bargainer's background

Nice to get the background on how they met. Again liked the authors writing style and the narrators conveying their story.

Would definitely recommend this series
