Summary

What do a heartless Dragon Shifter, a cold-blooded Basilisk, an arrogant Lion Shifter, and a brooding, tattooed Harpy have in common…?

Me.

Elise Callisto. Vampire. Angel of vengeance. And a girl on a mission to destroy one of them for murdering my brother. I just don’t know which one did it yet.

When I kicked the ass of a Werewolf who was high on a new and dangerous drug called Killblaze, his final words painted a dark reality for me. The King of Aurora Academy killed my brother. The trouble is, there’s four kings at that school, and each of them have motive and cutthroat natures.

Aurora Academy isn’t a place for the faint of heart. To put it lightly, my town is the asshole of Solaria where the dodgiest Fae in the kingdom reside. The school itself is divided by the two gangs who run this town, The Lunar Brotherhood and the Oscura Clan. And guess what? Two of the kings run the gangs at the school, their hatred for each other so fierce I hear a day doesn’t go by without blood being spilled in the halls.

I might be a petite, lilac-haired girl who looks like a fragile doll, but they haven’t been introduced to my fangs yet. And they don’t know why I’m really here. Or that I’ll do whatever it takes to bring down the Fae who took my flesh and blood from me.

I don’t believe in fate, but I do know this…the King who killed my brother is a dead man walking. And I’m prepared to sacrifice my heart, body and soul to ensure I get my revenge.

This is a reverse harem series set in the world of Zodiac Academy four years before the Vega Twins were awakened. Expect some character cross-over, dark and hot romance, and a twisted murder mystery which will leave your head spinning.

Fantastic story and narration

Both narrators were absolutely on point with all the characters. They told the story in such an exciting way.

Fantastic Characters

I'm a huge fan of this series. Immersive world, strong complex characters, why choose and hot steam. Whats not to love?! Then I found it on audible and just had to listen.

OMG these narrators, between them they manage to bring it all to life in a whole new way. To voice so many characters between the two of them and get the so right is incredible and they do a fantastic job of setting the tone all the way through <3

Good!

Enjoyed it and although, at times that make me cringe (I’m easily to however), it’s mostly me laughing because I found this book incredibly funny and entertaining. It’s not the most complex read but I think it’s done well. My one criticism is the amount of times the phrase vampire speed is used, because if it was a drinking game I’d be passed out before the 5th chapter!

murder, mystery, magic, mayhem & power hungry Fae

I've heard a lot of good things about these authors so thought it was time to give this series a go. I really enjoyed it! There is a hell of a lot going on, but then there are five lead characters and we got multiple chapters from all of them, plus glimpses from the past, so its not surprising.

I loved Elise, she was fiery, sassy, determined and was the only one to stand up to all four Kings of the Academy. The four guys.....Ryder, Dante, Gabriel and Leon..... what can I say about them. Most of them were a-holes a lot of the time, but the further the book progressed, we started to see their other side, the one they keep hidden from the world. I hated and loved them all at times (apart from Leon, he and his Mindys cracked me up. It was mad but he just made me smile!) they were all different, maddening, stubborn and powerful, but it's clear they all bring something unique that Elise is drawn to.

With a murder to solve and four suspects, with danger all around her, can Elise stay on track or will the four make her crack.....

Fantastic ending to a long book which had depth, detail and very good world building with a good dash of humour, suspense, fierce rivalries and chemistry waiting to ignite.

I listened to the audio version and both authors were excellent.  I'm looking forward to what comes next.

Life changing amazing read!

So I finally took the plunge and listened to my very first audiobook. I had been dubious because I like being able to read it myself and didn't think i'd be able to listen and keep up with the story. But my fears were for naught and what a book to pop my audiobook cherry with than Dark Fae.

This book is a spin-off series to the popular Zodiac Academy series and is Reverse Harem. I absolutely loved listening to this book and the readers were well chosen. Listening to them read made the story come more alive than it ever had before.

Enter the main female protagonist, Elise Callisto, Vampire, Air Elemental and supreme badass. This girl has had a hard life growing up but that only gives her an inner level of strength most don't have. She enrolls at Aurora Academy to find out who killed her beloved brother and she takes no prisoners, showing these guys who's the boss from day one.

Candidates for her brothers killers are the four kings of this academy! Lunar King Ryder Draconis, hot, tattooed basilisk shifter with a fondness for pain controlling the power of Earth. Leon Night, hilariously funny lion shifter with the power of fire that made me cry with laughter. Oscura King, Dante the rare Italian storm dragon shifter with the power of Air who's accent made me weak at the knees. Finally, Gabriel Nox, loner harpy shifter who can see the future, a double elemental of water and earth.

This book will make you cry, scream in both sadness and anger, rage, and laugh so uncontrollably that you can't breathe! If all of this is not enough to convince you to read nothing else will. Pick up this book today and get ready to have your life changed forever!

Seemingly slow paced but full of spice

You may want to go into this knowing book knowing that not a whole lot happens and it’s a very long start to a murder mystery that won’t be resolved by the end of this book.

I also stupidly didn’t check and it’s a reverse harem which I don’t love, I always find MC in reverse harems undecided and fickle and this isn’t an exception for me.
The head strong female lead is determined not to let a man control her or pin her down, fair enough but 4 blokes all falling over themselves for the same
girl always makes me cringe 😬 and jumping from man to man and bed to bed just delaying what could be a great romance developing.

Anyway, my personal tastes aside this book has some great characters, I absolutely LOVE the huge range of fae in this book it really lends for what I think will be an interesting series.

Hang tight for spicy scenes and foul language!

Beware Ryder in the audiobook sounds like Batman 😂🫣

Il be continuing to find out what happened beyond this cliffhanger ending and to hopefully meet more cool Fae characters.

Five Freaking Stars 👏👏👏

Yaaaaaaaaaasss! I was scared, guys. I was scared going into this. Why do you ask? Well. I read Kings of Quarantine before this - my first book from this author duo - and it was waaaaaaaay too much for me. It was brutal. Just like the title. Haha. Anyway - I knew they were good writers and people loved them so I wanted to give another series of theirs a shot. I am so freaking glad I did - this book was 🙌 epic. The FMC is so strong and totally worth the love of all these hot men. It’s academy but it definitely has its own little twist to it. Only the first book is on audio sadly - the narration was HOT. I really love Troy Duran’s voice - and the female narrator rocked it too! I couldn’t wait for the second book to be released so I’m reading the second one on kindle. I can’t wait to own all the audio books though! I love owning special ones I can re-listen to!

Great Story and Narration

This is the 1st audiobook in the Ruthless boys of the Zodiac series. The narration is duel. During male POV chapters we have a male narrator and during the FMC chapters we have a female narrator. Both do a great job at the voices of the charathers and make them distinctive. Very good duel narration.

The story. Is so addictive. I lean more toward compentary but this story and genera by these authors have made me fall in love with a magical, deep, well develop world. This is a mystery an RH romance. In this world of Fae each Fae has an order from vampires to lion shifter. They all also have Elemental Magic based on their zodiac signs. It's a very interesting world of Magic based on zodiac. Elise is going to a good but rough Academy (college aged) to try to solve the mystery of her brother's Murder By befriending the leades in the school including rival gang members. We also flash back to her time at the brothers school before his death. The story is loading very well. The story is really addictive and compelling. With a well-balanced of emotion grief loss and humor and fantastic mystery and story. The authors are there also have other series based in the same world. Timeline wise this series takes place first. I can't tell you enough how picky I am about this genre and I've tried to find something else like this but I can't this is just such an amazing series and amazing world that they have created and amazing writers and it translates so well over audio.

Love this series

Absolutely loved this series. The female lead is strong and independent and her guys are hot. It has a little bit of everything and I found myself laughing out loud more times than I can count. The sex scenes are hot and the story line is great. Well worth the credits. Troy Duran is my favorite male narrator and Keira Stevens is my favorite female narrator. Having them together makes this story even better.

Ok

I wanna start off by saying the story is really well written. But there were a couple things I found frustrating throughout the story. I didn’t feel like we made any headway at all in finding out who’s good and who’s bad. This is supposed to be a reverse harem story and so far she’s only actually been with one guy… And constantly teases and turns down everyone else. Maybe that’s what I found frustrating. I was ready for her to move forward with the other guys. I am intrigued enough that I want to get book 2.

Highly recommend

Narration of this book was great. Troy did a superb job on narrating all of the men and giving each their own distinctive and distinguishable voice. Keira was excellent as always.

The story, universe and characters was just... just WOW! I feel like I went on a great adventure with Elise as she left home to attend Aurora Academy to find her brother's murderer and avenge his death. What surprised me the most is how much heart was at the core of the story and also how laugh-out-loud funny it is at times. Leon, the lazy Lion King, is hilarious and just a genius character.

The only con is that book 2 isn't on Audible and now I will go read it on Kindle Unlimited.

Buyers regret

I bought this after listening to The Zodiac Academy which I really enjoyed. However, found this story line lacking, predictable and honestly just really boring.

Dissappointed.

More please!!

This is book 1 of the Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac and sets up the world of Elise and the guys. Elise is on the hunt for her brother's killer and all signs point to one of the 4 kings of his school being the culprit. Only, things aren't so black and white once Elise arrives at school and gets to know them. I read this series before I listened and I love it! The narrators do a great job (Troy Duran has this gravelly voice that is HOT!) Can't wait for the next book to come out in audio.

Fantastic world!

Another fantastic series in the Solaris world. I love this world so much. I am instantly pulled in and never want to leave. Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti write such great characters you can't help but think about even when you are not reading or listening to them. I love getting Garreth's POV even though it makes me sad because he died. He is a really likeable character that loves his sister so much. So much mystery in this story i cant waitbto continue on to the next audible. I loved Troy Duran as the narrator for the guys. He made each voice so different that fit perfectly for each of the guys! Keira Stevens is an amazing narrator. She brought Elisa to life so well.

Narrator

Loved the male narrator voice, but the female voice didn’t match the character for me. She seemed too young (and maybe Midwestern??) against the mature gravely voice of the male. Good story, I’m a fan of these authors.
