Summary

The top 10 Sunday Times best seller.

Winner of the RNA Romantic Comedy Novel of the Year award.

When does time out become the time of your life?

Jodie Jackson is all at sea, in every sense.

On a ferry bound for the Isle of Wight, she's leaving her London life, her career and her husband behind. She'd like a chance to turn back the clocks, but she'll settle for some peace and quiet on her brother Bill's beautifully renovated houseboat, Sunny Days.

But from the moment Jodie steps aboard her new home, it's clear she'll struggle to keep herself to herself. If it isn't Marilyn, who cleans for Bill and is under strict instructions to look after Jodie, then it's Ned, the noisy sculptor on the next-door houseboat. Ned's wood carving is hard on the ears, but it's made up for by the fact that he's rather easy on the eyes.

Bustled out of the boat by Marilyn and encouraged to explore with Ned, Jodie soon delights in her newfound freedom. But out of mind isn't out of sight, and when her old life comes knocking, Jodie is forced to face reality. Will she answer the call or choose a life filled with sunny days and sea breezes?

An absolute must-listen from the queen of fun-filled and life-affirming fiction, Sunny Days and Sea Breezes will make your heart sing.

Pleasant book

This was an ok book. Overall I enjoyed it, although more than once I thought to return it. However, I am glad I stuck with it. I’m not a fan of ‘I’ve a secret I’m not telling but will just drop hints’ in general, ana more than one cringy moments, but overall a pleasant listen on my evening walk.

Lovely light feel-good and entertaining

Personal circumstances mean I get through an audiobook every few days and these same circumstances require no graphic, or intense suffering, misery and sad or ‘realistic’ endings.

My favourite authors - Lucinda Riley, Santa Montefiore, Karen Swan are not as saccharine and/or daft as some of the fare that I resort to to meet my rather exacting escapist, uplifting requirements.

Finding something truly absorbing after years with this very narrow band of entertainment requirements is quite the challenge.

I am so thankful for Audible’s recent £3 sale which allowed me to trial some new authors without wasting a precious credit, as it has introduced me to Carole Matthews. I have whipped through this thoroughly enjoyable easy-read, replete with its likeable protagonist, love interest and storyline that skips along with ease and sparkle.

The genuinely humorous ‘tangled phrases’ of one of the support characters were so frequent it could have grated. I did find myself waiting for the next incredibly regular mangled sayings, whenever this character was speaking, but it wasn’t as grating, or implausible as some of the content in the more sugary sweet romance and happy-ending guaranteed stories I listen to that are rather more underwhelming in their genuine enjoyment value.

I hope to be as pleasantly surprised by more from this newly discovered author. I’d have liked to have had a little
more time to savour the rather abrupt ending but it’s a small gripe for an otherwise rather enchanting listen.

Poor narrating

The narrator spoiled the story with poor acting and performance skills. I felt I was being read to by a child. Which is a shame as Laura Kirman is an experienced reader and actress, it just didn't work with this book.

There were sensitive and emotional issues that were minimised, there was no real emotion portrayed by the narrator. A good storyline believable characters but significantly let down by the teller.

Brilliant as always!!

I didn’t want it to end, a great story, with believable characters - all of which you become totally immersed in and feel you know them personally, brilliant storyline, I was very disappointed when it finished. Carole Matthews at her very best. Would thoroughly recommend.

I am/was addicted to this narrative. The characters are well thought out, I found myself smiling out loud in the streets. Attached.

Carole Matthews has done it again! The brilliant and vivid descriptions has me ready to book my ticket.
This is a story of resilience and love after heartbreak. I laughed and and cried. I can't wait to read what she comes up with next.
