Long Story for a predictable end.

The narrator sounded a lot like Carole Matthews herself, however the American accent was a little off.
As a Carole Matthews fan I have to say this is not one of her better books as the story seemed to drag on a little.
overall a heartwarming story and good easy book to listen to in the background.

Paper hearts

An easy listen that had me identifying with the characters, weeping, laughing and the perfect ending.

Dreadful

This book was really bad full of inconsistencies and really sugar sweet characters, Skipped a lot to get to the end quicker.

The Christie the main character was a rather overbearing mother. She was calling her 15 year old son 'my brave boy' before he even became ill! She had no friends other than her boss and spent all her time with her mother and father totally unrealistic.

Christie supposedly got up early 5.00 am, to catch the coach to work at 6am, but one morning met the postman with her post, how many people have the post arriving at 6am!

Another day she got home at 8.30pm, went to her parents to eat dinner and was having a drink in the summer house after and the sun hadn't even gone down - in October!

When she was made redundant after 18 years with a law firm there was no consultation period just your redundant and she left - again totally unrealistic.

Finally she got the man in the end even though he's supposed to be a high flying american CEO, who she has only met a handful of times and she's a dumpy ordinary woman obsessed with her parents and son.

Don't read or listen its a waste of your time.

Narrator let it down

Story was overall ok, a bit predictable.
But the Narrator let the main character down, voice inflections were wrong, ended up with Christy being a bit bland and Mumsy, she was very childish with her son, it was hard to realise he was 15.
This spoilt the book, I would have liked her to have been a more positive, dynamic character

Not keen on leading character

What did you like best about Paper Hearts and Summer Kisses? What did you like least?

I liked the storyline of building a business. Sadly not enough of it.

I liked least the ridiculous romance elements - totally fake and unrealistic.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Most interesting - trying to build a business and winning a competition.

Least interesting - romance and other relationships. OTT.

What does Julia Barrie bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Probably the same as all audio books.

Did Paper Hearts and Summer Kisses inspire you to do anything?

Maybe stop reading this type of book. I wish the authors would read the comments and have more business set up and less romance.

Any additional comments?

I would give this book 3.5 cos it's well written. Our heroine is way too wet and wimpy though.

Very disappointed

I'm very disappointed by this book. The beginning feels like you've missed something, the end rushed. Meh.

I absolutely adore this book.

Maybe its because I relate to the main character but can't recommend it highly enough.
