Summary

"The narration by Marisa Calin is once again spot on perfection from intonation, to pronunciation to accents she gets and A+ and her portrayal of Xanthe is an absolute treasure." (The Reading Frenzy)

The second audiobook in a bewitching series "brimming with charm and charisma" that will make "fans of Outlander rejoice!" (Woman's World Magazine)

New York Times best-selling author Paula Brackston returns to the Found Things series with Secrets of the Chocolate House.

After her adventures in the 17th century, Xanthe does her best to settle back into the rhythm of life in Marlborough. She tells herself she must forget about Samuel and leave him in the past where he belongs. With the help of her new friends, she does her best to move on, focusing instead on the success of her and Flora’s antique shop.

But there are still things waiting to be found, still injustices needing to be put right, still voices whispering to Xanthe from long ago about secrets wanting to be shared.

While looking for new stock for the shop, Xanthe hears the song of a copper chocolate pot. Soon after, she has an upsetting vision of Samuel in great danger, compelling her to make another journey to the past.

This time, she'll meet her most dangerous adversary. This time, her ability to travel to the past will be tested. This time, she will discover her true destiny. Will that destiny allow her to return home? And will she be able to save Samuel when his own fate seems to be sealed?

Worth the buy

Okay, so I was a little disappointed in the romance front, gutted actually, but I loved the chocolate pot concept, and as a potter, I have since gone on and made my own chocolate pot with great joy. Time travel element became more interesting. There was a cliff hanger at the end, although I had guessed it when I realised my first hope was dashed. I will go on and read the third when it comes out.....all I am saying though, is if there is not a happy love ending of some sort I will be very unhappy! 😂😂

Outstanding!!!

Just have to say that this 2nd book in the series certainly delivered! Oh my word did Paula Brackston pull this one out of the bag! This was undoubtedly brilliant! It had everything. Suspense, romance, intrigue, fantastic plot, history, magic, time travel..... I could go on and on. I loved that the plot developed into including others which saw the characters develop so naturally and it is clear as the series goes on these will be developed further and have more significant roles. This book gripped me from the moment I picked it up and 3 days later I had finished it. Happy and gutted at the same time. The author and narrator bring this book to life, absolutely worth 5 stars and I honestly cannot wait to read what happens next!

Another brilliant story from my favourite author!

Paula Brackston is without doubt my favourite author, who I first discovered a few years back when given the witch's daughter as gift and very contently read my way through the entire series of the shadow chronicles.

When I had finished all the books (which I never wanted to happen), I discovered audible and purchased little shop of found things and to my delight just as I had finished the sequel, secrets of the chocolate house was released and bought it on the spot.

Unfortunately I have come to the end of it, as with every book she writes, she sweeps you up into the whirlwind of every tale never for a second letting you off the edge of your seat.

I was very sad to have come to the end of this tale, however completely delighted it has been left open for a sequel ....... Please Paula, get the next one done. All of us Brackston addicts are waiting on tender hooks for our next dose of being swept away into the wonderful mind of Paula Brackston and world of Xanthe Westlake!

Another Brilliant Book In The Little Shop Of Found Things Series

A brilliant beautiful book. Definitely a great follow up to The Little Shop Of Found Things. It was worth the wait and brilliantly narrated by Marisa Calin.

Book 1 was better.

I wish this book would be about something different then another story about the first one. Book 1 was really good I couldn't put it down. This one just continued on about the same stuff. She goes back to the same place and fixes the stuff she didn't the first time. It was just ok.

Enjoyable

I like this series so far. This book (book 2) had some very warm fuzzy moments. It just was, well like sipping hot chocolate. You are excited looking forward to seeing the characters again but the story just seemed missing. There were ALOT of repetitive descriptions. (Like Jerry.. we get it) I always try to remember that it's just a story. But things that make me bonkers are like Zanthe and her mother were broke, supposedly she went away to London to do a gig.. wouldn't one of the questions be from her mom about how much she earned? That to me would of been a good question and a creative storying telling Lie she would of had to create.
I loved the story...and there were many parts where I would of loved to have seen expanded. The Chocolate Shoppe sounded so interesting. And was a great place to build out stories.
In closing I did enjoy the book and can't help but wonder if this was a "background story" to transition into the next book.

Much better than the first book in the series

The author hit her stride in this, the second book, in the series. It seems as if there was a bit of floundering in book one, while this one was not confusing at all, and the protagonist is developed into a more interesting character. I’m looking forward to the next one and hoping Zanthe continues to hone her skills.

Great book. I liked it as much as the first one!

This is such an interesting series in that it smoothly combines so many aspects of several people’s lives into an easy to read, intriguing story. It keeps your interest without any dull areas where minds might wander. I looked forward to every minute of it and finished it in record time. I think the narrator is very good and easy to listen to either on Echo or earbuds. I’m looking forward to more from this author.

Spinners

I liked the development of the "spinning " talent. I was satisfied with the love interests. I wish she wouldn't lie so much to her mother: maybe the mother is a spinner too. I look forward to the next book.
