Story
As a wolf shifter growing up in a strong pack, I should be living my best life. But after my father tried to kill our leader, I’m labelled an outcast, traitor, less than dirt. When I can't take pack life any longer, I run, but apparently they don't like losing their punching bag. Torin, the leader’s son, drags me back before my first shift...a shift that will reveal my true mate. I never could have predicted who mine would be, but the moment my wolf looks upon him, I’m filled with hope for a brighter future.

really good story
Would you consider the audio edition of Once Burned to be better than the print version?
I would as the performance is excellent and enhances the story and strengthens the characters.
Any additional comments?
As I have read the Huntress series and Vlad was a strong support character in those books - this book develops his story line. The book is free standing and is not affected if you have not read the Huntress series. LOVED this book will read it again without a doubt.

my all time favorite
I have read and reread this entire series, and it never gets old. The combination of darkness and humour has me spellbound, and the narrative is mostly brilliant. If I have one criticism then its the voice of Lilia after a while it gets a little irritating. That said it is a small irritation, and doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the book.

A Good Addition for fans of Night Huntress Series
I came to this book having enjoyed the Night Huntress Series, but getting a little bored of it after three installments. Those who have listened to the previous series will be prepared for the narrator's very questionable grasp of accents. If you can get passed this it's a nice addition to the Night Huntress universe and it's nice to see Vlad find some happiness. These books are fairly well rounded despite being light reads and thoroughly enjoyable if you're a fan of supernatural romances. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Another great book form Jeanine Frost
What made the experience of listening to Once Burned the most enjoyable?
I have been a fan of Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress World books for years and Once Burned did not disappoint.
It is only recently that I have begun to listen to audiobooks, as I do not have the time to read books as much as I used to or want to.
Not only does the story draw you into the world Jeaniene has created, but Tavia Gilbert does an excellent job as a narrator with her natural flow, pleasant voice, her ability to express specific feelings in a single sentence as well as using different voices and accents for each character. There are a few accents/voices I think could use a little improving, but overall I love Tavia Gilbert's work.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Definitely, I have read the book in one sitting and have listened to the audiobook quite a few times so far.

Another great addition to the Night Huntress World
I do have a soft spot for Vlad and finally he has his own story. I really enjoyed listening to the hugely talented Tavia Gilbert's narration of the fantastic novel.
Jeaniene Frost has once again penned and exciting read, with the perfect mixture of action packed plots and sexy romance.
Tavia Gilbert's voice acting always impresses me and this was no exception. All characters were brought to life and she injects just the right amount of intensity.

Would read the sequel
To clarify: ‘Loins’ is NOT a sexy word, and there is no good reason to use it in a sentence. Ever.
If you can get past the slightly dodgy accents (apparently performer copies English from Dick van Dyke) then it’s a decent read
I’ll probably give the sequel a go

This series is one of my all-time fave vampire reads and I find myself reading this time and time again! Very few books managed to capture Romanians'attitude towards Vlad the Impaler. Nice reading
This is a nice piece of reading if you like vampires and romance mixed together. :) So many of us likes bad boys with pure golden hearts only for us. And we can easily placed ourselves in main character’s skin. I couldn’t give it full marks only because I like Vlad Dracula in a different version. If the main vampire had a different name it would be totally 5 stars. But all together the story is good. We have love and drama and damsel in distress who actually can take care for herself. And we have a juicy moments too. And the vampires don’t sparkle :) I don’t have experience in romance books but I think this one will satisfy my needs more than love stories placed in non supernatural worlds.

A HOT FROST LISTEN!
So glad Frost broke out Vlad's story from the Night Huntress series! Although Vlad irritates me at times with his arrogance...his friendship and loyalty with Cat in the past made him another favorite. And Once Burned only makes him better!
Vlad meets his match in Leila who, although human, has powers of her own as well. Between the two of them...well...lets just say there are sparks right from the beginning, figuratively and literally. :) Similar to Cat and Bones, Vlad and Leila are just a stubborn as they attempt a relationship, all the while tracking down someone from Vlad's past that was presumed dead centuries ago. This book is filled with many tense moments that are both good ;) and bad..once again sucking you in!
As for Tavia...she never disappoints and I am so glad that they kept her as the narrator for all of the Frost books! Without a doubt she is only getting better! She does such a good job with every character...it is hard to believe it is one person! And she does so much more than just reading...the way she acts out what she is reading really makes it come alive!
Once Burned is another "Hot Frost" listen :) worth the credit!! Bring on the next one!!

So bad it's good
Would you try another book from Jeaniene Frost and/or Tavia Gilbert?
I've read her night huntress series which I liked MUCH more
Would you ever listen to anything by Jeaniene Frost again?
Yes
Did Tavia Gilbert do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
I have to applaud Tavia for attempting all the different accents... irish, british, romanian, american.... but they're pretty hilariously cheesy.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Laughter. Tavia's voice overs were hilarious.
Any additional comments?
I kept laughing in disbelief... especially that I was still listening hours in. I think this is the worst book I have ever read... although I have to say I was entertained.

This is a HOT One!
Read from June 26 to 27, 2012
I feel like I waited for this book for years! I love Vlad and was thrilled he was getting his own story. Jeaniene Frost has done it again! I was worried that no woman would be good enough for Vlad but Leila is perfect for the old guy. She has just the right amount of angst so she won't be a pushover and a touch of innocence and vulnerability that will make her likeable.
This book has the same successful recipe that all of Ms. Frost's books have that makes it a lovely blend of romance and urban fantasy, seasoned with enough steamy scenes and gory battles to keep me mesmerized.
A lot of people are complaining about the end but I liked the conclusion. My only issue is that the book is way to short and that the wait will be excruciating.
Tavia Gilbert performs flawlessly and keeps the accents of so many characters consistent and believable. She has such emotion while she reads I bet the sound crew was blushing during some scenes.

OH my, Vlad was worth the wait!
I have been waiting for this book to come out. I have loved all the Cat and Bones books as well as the other characters stories so I knew Vlad's story would be good. Frost did not disappoint. I think this series could become as good as Cat and Bones series. I definitely will look forward to seeing how Vlad's romance will progress. He needs a good woman and I think these two will create a good series.
Tavia Gilbert is one of my favorite narrators and I was so glad to see her continue with this new series. It is nice to keep the same narrator since you are used to the voices she has created for the characters.
HOT, EXCITING and Left you wanting more, more, more. The only bad part is the wait for the next book. Totally credit worthy. I do recommend you start at the beginning of the Cat and Bones Series so you can get to know all the characters, including Vlad.

Love Jeaniene Frost's books - they're an automatic download for me. No doubt this is the start of another fantastic series. I loved Vlad and can't wait for the storyline to develop more. I couldn't stop listening to this it was just so yummy - it had everything you'd expect from JF's books.
What a great combination - brilliant writing and awesome narration - the perfect union.
Well worth the credit.

Not Your Adverage Dracula Story!!
Any additional comments?
I love Vlad. I have been waiting for his story since we met him in the Night Huntress novels. He's a more sophisticated, polished version of Bones. Don't tell Bones I said this, but Vlad is more my type! :)
Frost keeps up her usual fast, fun ride with Once Burned. The sex is hot, the banter is witty, and the fights are nail biters. What more could you pack into an 8 hour show/book?
Tavia is completely awesome as the narrator (as usual) and brings so much "personality" to the narration. Loved it!

EXCITING NEW SERIES
This first book in Jeaniene Frost's new series is excellent! Tavia Gilbert does her normal fabulous job with Vlad's accent. Lots of action and killing and fire from Vlad. Leila is a very interesting character and has some very cool powers of her own even though she is just human. Of course nobody can write a love scene like Jeaneine and woooo does she do Vlad proud with this one. LOL I hope we don't have to wait a full year for the next book because that's just too long to wait for such a great story. You have to listen to this if you are a Jeaniene Frost Night Huntress fan!! I'll be listening to it again very soon.

Loved it!
I loved this light paranormal romance. There was plenty of action and character development to keep me interested throughout. A little steam but nothing graphic or detailed.

What took me so long!!!!
I have no idea what took me so long to read this book. I love Jeaniene Frost Night Huntress Series and the Night Huntress World books. So why did I wait a whole year to read this book will hunt me for awhile. Vlad, Vlad, Vlad, what can you say about Dracula (never call him that or think it around him if you value your life). Vlad is passionate, irrational, possessive and funny at times, although his mood changes with the wind. But it’s something about him that makes crazy and thinks she can crack his outer shell, only to realize there is an inner one too. Leila is strong, independent and loyal to a fault. She is just the type of woman to make a guy like Vlad fall to his knees, if only he would let her. To say that I enjoyed this book is an understatement. I would and have recommended this book to several friends.
Tavia Gilbert is dynamic as a narrator. She is my favorite narrator. Someone comment about the accent she using for Bones but I absolutely love it. Even when I read some of Jeaniene Frost books, I still imagine Tavia voice associated with the characters.
WHY ARE YOU STILL READING THIS, GO GET THIS BOOK AND ENJOY!!!!!!
