Like the first book, enjoyment spoilt by truly awful accents used by narrator. Finished it but a trial

Entertaining

I say entertaining if only for the fact that the narrator made our "hero" sound like Keith Lemon. and some of his pronunciation left me cringing. Does no one proof listen to these broadcasts. Story was good although I find it difficult to believe our security services would be that inept.

Good story but narration poor

A typical an ejoyable all actiom story.
However, the narrator needs either to improve when using accents or refrain altogether.

Good story.. difficult performance..

Sadly although I enjoyed the book/story, the audiobook performance was one of the worst I have sat through..
I found it distracting trying to attempt so many differing accents so poorly..
This in turn detracted from my enjoyment of the audiobook..
A pity.. but not to my taste as a reader..

Narration detracts from the enjoyment

What a shame - the accents by the narrator are almost unbearable to listen to. I only continued listening because I paid for the book and it has a good story.

Great story but ..............

The story was excellent, kept you wanting to hear more and some intriguing twists and turns. There was however a fly in the ointment, the narrator. Don't get me wrong, When he was just narrating he was excellent but when he spoke in character it was cringeworthy. The main male character sounded like Keith Lemon and it was very hard to take him seriously as a tough assassin. Some of the other characters were as bad, Most regional accents were abused but If your welsh please make sure your blood pressure doesn't get too high, i am not Welsh and even I felt insulted for you

if you can possibly bear with the dreadful accents it is a great story and well worth listening to

Audible strikes again.

The first book was well narrated and it added to a good experience. Audible obviously didn’t want to fork out for the same narrator so we ended up with someone who decided the main character needed the voice of a camp half wit. Sounds like the irritating twerp of the Asda adverts. Problem is this was the high point, the rest of the accents were excruciatingly bad. However, I noticed that book three had a different narrator so invested. Unbelievably, the narration is even worse. It sounds like an American robot. Bizarre. I am cancelling all future Audible credits.
