Summary

In the winter of 1996, on the orders of the British government, the SAS stole the contents of a safe belonging to the Provisional IRA.

Rick Fuller headed that team. Days later Fuller's wife was brutally murdered. Convinced he was betrayed from within, Fuller begins a relentless search for her murderers.

Ten years on, Fuller is a Manchester gangland enforcer, a lone and bitter figure. On a job in Amsterdam, doors open to the past, but can Fuller finally take his revenge on the men who betrayed him?

An initial slow burn...

...which I found difficult to get into however, once I focussed on the story properly, I really enjoyed this fast paced story - and didn’t want to switch it off. I liked the way the characters developed through their own lenses, their relationships and principles. Interesting splattering if general knowledge and a satisfactory conclusion.

Refreshing

What a fantastic 1st if a series. Not what you would expect. I expected the usual stuff but very pleasantly surprised. Recommended.

Dissappointed

Storyline overall good but ruined by inconsistent reading volume meant experience was frustrating and required perfect listening conditions.

I gave up

Im sure the story is ok, but I gave up. I listen to books while driving, the Narration is ok gruff voice but he mumbles and talks quietly a lot, so in the Car I cant hear him... turn it up... talks loudly....turn it down... mumbles! I give up!!

Disappointing story poorly told

I didn’t get on with this book and gave up on it. The story didn’t grip me and seem overblown and I found the narrator tried to hard in getting the words over. Overall a pity but there you go perhaps it’s just me as others seemed to like it.

Great Read

Robert White is a new author for me, but what a great introduction to his work. I will definitely read more of his books.

Brilliant story - pity about terrible performance

Brilliant book somewhat ruined by the performance.
Whispering unintelligibly at times and the accents are poorly performed. You also have no idea of the sex of the speakers until they are referred to.

However the story was very good and well worth a read if not a listen.

Outstanding narration but poor audible quality

This is an excellent story and the series promises to be good.

Unfortunately, the audible quality was not as good as it should have been. As each character spoke their story the volume decreased.

However, the narrator was outstanding.

Don't let the lowering of volume put you off choosing this book.

Great book a minor issue

A great book and the performance was good as well, the only problem was that the volume didn't seem to be very high and it was difficult to listen to being traffic in the street, apart from that excellent.

Will certainly buy the next book in the series

Unusual way of writing from the aspect of three different characters but this was good. When the story first started, I wondered whether it would be my kind of thing but it just got better and better. Yes certainly a good buy
