Welcome to your 21st century modern lifestyle - where everything is moving at faster pace with all the noises, distractions, and disruptions causing you to lose focus, get overwhelmed, and break down, wanting to scream at the top of your lungs for it to end. Not only does this deters your concentration...it robs you of your energy, drains your mind, and exhausts your body.

Thus, chaos reigns supreme in your life, and all you want is a peace of mind. What you really need is a sense of calmness.

You see, there are moments in all our lives when we just want to physically escape from everything, but can't afford such leisure - due to reasons not limited to, being in the middle of an important task to complete on a tight time crunch left.

In the midst of all these turmoil, you just need to calm down and stay calm no matter what in order to redirect attention, regain clarity, and recenter your equilibrium to get through them at that moment when it really counts.

Within Instant Calmness:

  • How to use "environmental sensory perception" to alter your current environment into your Fortress of Solitude for inner peace and tranquility.

A wonderful way of learning how to relax and to try to keep calm

I am not the calmest of person, I get very annoyed by stupidity and I know this is something I need to get a handle with. Unfortunately the world isn’t a perfect place, but this very short book that can teach you different methods of taking back control and exercising calmness. There are several different methods and I think you need to find the one or two which you can relate to most.

My advice regarding this small book, is to sit back somewhere quiet where you don’t have distractions. Shut your eyes, listen and mentally picture what you are being taught. Don’t worry if you get too relaxed by the lady talking and find your mind just drifting off. Try and mentally practice the exercises being set. I did find the lady did talk a bit quickly and didn’t really pause between one mental exercise to the next, don’t worry about this.

After you have listened to this book, you can go away and practice and practice the exercises taught.

I am going to re listen to this again, this time with a note book and pencil Im going to take notes that I can refer to if I forget any of the exercises.

I really enjoyed this book because it was short, and I needed a quick way to access some excellent CBT type methods of managing my frustration quickly and efficiently.

After listening to this book I felt calm, sleepy and quite floppy because I had let go of all that pent up tension. I am going to practice these methods when I try and go to sleep, because I struggled with sleep and I know tension can mess up sleep patterns.

I am a very visual person, and these exercises are mentally visual so I could relate to the exercises. I particularly enjoyed the teleporting exercise where you imagine yourself somewhere absolutely amazing, you can smell the air, you can see the amazing sky, you can feel and touch objects around you. I was mentally back in Scotland on the coast, standing next to a fantastic lighthouse, surrounded by wide blue skies, crashing waves, I could smell the sea and the grasses around me. I was mentally touching the outside of the lighthouse walls, it was just me, the lighthouse and the sea.

The idea is you can paint any picture and instantly go there. The book gets you to look at colours around you and also get you to associate the colour with that in the place you have enjoyed being at.

I think practice makes perfect. I know I will re listen to this over and over again. This lady’s voice is quite soothing. I wouldn’t recommend listening to this in the car if you are driving incase it distracts you.

I think I’m going to also practice the hand squeezing exercises and buy a small natural sponge which I could have at my desk and gently squeeze from time to time while doing the exercise which goes with it.

I want to be that person of absolutely calmness even if everything around me is going crazy.

Hope this short book helps you.

One of the techniques- very useful

Any additional comments?

One of the techniques (for my purposes I call it " a red ball technique") is extremely useful. I use it virually every day. I read many self developement books, because I am looking for strategies of dealing with stress and anxiety, and suprisingly in this small book I found the most useful technique! I also like the fact that there is very little of motivational talk so you don't have to go through all this explanatory and ideological content to get to the point.
