Summary

Have you wondered if it is possible to stop intense feelings of worry, anxiety, or depression without resorting to medication? Most depression-related medication can have a series of harmful side effects that sometimes leave patients in an even worse state than before. Cognitive behavioral therapy has been one of the most successful methods of treating and eliminating depression, anxiety, and negative thought patterns with little to virtually no side effects.

Here's some of what you can expect to learn inside this audiobook:

  • Exactly how to dismantle the most damaging automatic thoughts
  • How to develop a solid foundation of core beliefs so that external factors have little negative impact on the way you think
  • Learn how to take in situations with a more positive perspective and make it a long-term habit
  • How to avoid the most common CBT mistakes that can greatly hinder your progress towards recovery
  • Proven methods to relax your mind and body and disrupt stress and depression patterns

Other than following the advice inside this guide, no previous skill or specific knowledge is required to get started with CBT. There is a large amount of CBT practitioners that have learned how to harness emotions and thoughts to rewire the way their mind works for good. Unlike depression or anxiety medication, the CBT principles will reward you with long-lasting results when correctly applied to your life. There is no better time to start the journey towards a healthier mind and body. Start by practicing CBT today!

Amazing listen!

This book was not only refreshing to listen, but it was inspirational and motivating. There are many people that experience tumultuous moments that lead to depressive and arduous stage(s) in their life. I for one experienced depression at a dark moment of my life and really wished that I would have listened to this book years ago! The detailed steps in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has now has prepared me to know what actions I should do to avoid any other dark moments in my life going forward. The most resonating lesson that I gained from the book was that our emotions and thoughts (not the event) are what drives our overall feelings, thoughts, and memory of an experience. Maintaining positive thoughts along with clear optimistic goals are essential! Such an amazing listen!

Great beginner book

This book introduces you to the powerful tool that is cognitive behavioral therapy, and it's a great beginner book for those who are exploring cognitive behavioral therapy as an option for better psychological well-being and help in improving their lives. I myself have never pursued CBT before but have definitely considered it, and this book helped me understand it better and what it can do for me.

Perfect audible!

As someone who has suffered from depression and anxiety for nearly their whole life, I needed natural relief and I found this gem of a book. Not only has this book helped me figure out what I need to do in order to change my way of thinking and therefore my quality of life, but it also explains everything in perfect detail without overexplaining or confusing me. The book is divided into 7 sections and each section explains the different parts of CBT(Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and how they work. I highly recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to drop tons of money on a therapist or take medicine with nasty side effects.

Very informative audible

This book was filled with knowledge and was very informative about topics I had more information on. The brain is such an interesting topic; like how we store information and process information. As someone who has been through all sorts of emotions, it was nice to listen to ways I can be happy within my own body.

Quick listen!

I like that it starts with a warning that CBT isn't helpful for everyone/everything and warns people to stop if there are negative effects. The chapters are relatively short and quick to listen. I like the idea of a journal and that your goals should be very personal. The author includes a wide range of options for handling intrusive thoughts, including acceptance and medication. The author included bits of information about how different religions can support CBT. Overall, a nice introduction to get people thinking about CBT.

Straightforward

This simple, straightforward quote put the rest of the book in perspective. The book is broken down into seven main sections and each section has multiple subsections that allow you to absorb the information in bite-size pieces. To be quite honest, I wish more books on topics like this were structured the same way.

Changed my life!

It explains how you can conquer depression and anxiety by using specific tools to help you control your thoughts. I love the audiobook in the back and the recap with each chapter. It helped me with my note-taking, and it's beneficial to flip back to when I get side-tracked. Recommended!

Amazing discovery!

This book made me realize how much easier it can be to take charge of anxiety and it's symptoms than I had originally thought. The explanation of how you can completely change your thought process when dealing with anxiety is an amazing discovery. I have learned how to face my negative thoughts, and realize that they are not what is actually happening around me. The method of sitting with your thoughts and letting them take their course so you can think about them rationally has what's helped me the most, realizing that just because I am thinking these thoughts doesn't necessarily mean they're true. I have suffered my whole life with crippling anxiety and depression. My son has also inherited these mental issues from me. So many times people who explain this explain from a clinical point of view. This book made me feel like the author really understood how it feels to fight with yourself and your emotions day after day. I have only begun to follow his advice and am already seeing a change in myself. I can not wait to initiate these same steps with my son once I myself am better at doing them. This book could change my life and hopefully save my son many years of pain and heartache.
