Summary

Miles Jupp stars as fussy food writer Damien Trench in the complete four series of this much-loved BBC Radio 4 sitcom.

Well-known cookery writer Damien Trench is famous for his book A Year in the Kitchen, a diary of everything he cooked and ate over the course of 12 months. Now, for the follow-up volume, In and Out of the Kitchen, Damien undertakes to open up the doors "not only to my kitchen, but also to my life". But is Damien’s life as idyllic as his listeners might suppose?

During the course of these 22 episodes, we follow the ups and downs of life for Damien and his partner, Anthony, as Damien films a pilot for his TV series Poets and their Palates, appears at a literary festival, dips his toe into the world of journalism, contends with the well-meaning interference of friends, looks after a baby, and plans his wedding.

Many of Damien’s recipes are included along the way. As he himself might say, enjoy - and more importantly, cook.

Marvellous

One of the very loveliest radio sitcoms. Writing is first rate, and the performances are spectacular. It’s such a lovely treat getting to follow these lives across a few years.

Absolutely fantastic

Miles Jupp, Anthony Edwards and the whole cast are absolutely fantastic. I have listen to this whilst working and in the absence of finding something as good as this on audible means I've probably listened to it over 20 time and I still love it. It's hilarious, I absolutely love it.

Perfect Under the weather listening

Subtle funny, warm and at times ridiculous - a sitcom with a difference and that difference is the script, it’s brilliant, the perfect listen for a Sunday afternoon or when you’re under the weather and need some gentle cheer

A lovely, funny listen

The complete adventures of pernickety food writer Damien Trench, played by Miles Jupp, his partner Anthony, and their friends and family. The genius of the show lies in its ability to create sympathy for this intensely irritating character and lead the listener into his world. And it has recipes, slyly inserted into the action.

Love love LOVE this it makes me laugh even after at least n7 listens

It’s funny witty self deprecating and just plan funny, laugh out stop the chapter rewind and listen again. I also use it for times I’m really struggling with my mental health - it’s feels safe x
