Summary

The new festive treat from the Sunday Times best seller.

It’s nearly Christmas, and it’s snowing, hard.

Six people have an unexpected stay in the tiny hamlet of Figgy Hollow.

Stuck inside a beautiful old inn, how long will it take before the joy of Christmas seeps into their souls and offers them all a new beginning?

A real winter warmer with a cherry on top!

Its taken me a few days to write this review because I really wanted to think about how I could do it justice in a few words in a box. The simple answer to that is, I can't do it justice in a few words in a box on the internet. This is Milly's best yet and I have read and re-read every book she has written and I can hand on heart tell you that THIS book is phenomenal. From start to finish I was captivated yet it is quite different from her other books. I fell in love with every character and just when I thought I had a favourite - my mind was changed. By the end of the book I can confirm the "Figgy Six" are my favourite characters in a book ever. Each character is so different - they fit and yet they don't fit so beautifully. I didn't want the story to end but alas, all stories do indeed come to an end - although whilst wanting more because it was so beautifully written - I was not left dissatisfied with the ending - it brought me peace and happiness and a lightness that no other book has ever done before. I have sat and thought what my favourite part of the book is and the genuine answer is, I can't choose but if I was made to choose I would say moments with "the real BBC" are up there with one of my favourite pieces in the book. I listened to this as an audio book but as I treat myself to a signed copy of the hardback - I will definitely read it myself very soon. I feel super Christmassy and happy and light and sad and happy again all at once and that's exactly what a book should do for you - it should evoke all kinds of emotion and this hit the spot beautifully!

On the level with Patrick Duffy coming out of the shower in Dallas

I love a Christmas book. But this one has so much sugar it puts your teeth on edge. The storyline requires suspension of reality that was difficult to read without groaning. The language used was so basic that I couldn’t believe Milly Johnson was the author. Have her other books but this feels like a Friday afternoon writing in the hope of making some money out of silly people like me who love a Christmas story to lift your heart. Yes, the genre is formulaic, but it could still be a good story. I couldn’t wait for it to finish. Sorry Millie

I wish I could spend Christmas at Figgy Hollow

This audio story was so good, when it finished I went right back to the start and listened to it again!
What a fabulously feel good magical story to brighten up this gloomy year, not normally one for Christmas tales, but this is so lovely I went and bought the book version so I can indulge with the characters of the holidays.
Love Love Love .. Milly Johnson at her fabulous best!

Disappointing from one of my favourite authors

I love Milly Johnson. She’s my go to for wonderful warm characters and stories of friendship. This one just felt a bit flat, predictable and formulaic.

Very reminiscent of the “V.I.P.s movie !!

Not my favourite narrator a bit flat didn’t really bring the characters to life which is a shame

Everybody’s dream of a white Christmas!

As always a thought provoking book by Milly Johnson who is fast becoming my favourite author. How Christmas used to be before commercialism highjacked the day. People getting on, good food, fun and games, pulling together, I wish life was still like that! This book highlights what’s important in life and is cleverly written. Funny, sad, happy, all the emotions! Well narrated with all the different characters! Will definitely listen to again and thoroughly recommend it!

Warming Christmas Story

I fancied listening to a lighthearted Christmas tale this year, and just as I was thinking this up popped this title as a daily deal.

While it was a heart warming story, unfortunately I felt the narration let the story down. It wasn’t terrible, but it was poor enough that it made me think about it all the time, detracting from the story.

I would buy this author again, but would check out who is doing the story telling
