Summary

The brand-new novel from the Sunday Times best-selling author of The Magnificent Mrs Mayhew - a gorgeous listen full of warmth and heartfelt emotion.

Laurie and Pete should never have met. But fate has pushed them together for a reason.

Six months ago, on the same night, Laurie and Pete both lost their partners. Struggling to manage the grief, they join the same counselling group - and meet each other.

From their sadness, Pete and Laurie find happiness growing, and they sense a fresh new beginning.

Except, the more they talk, the more Laurie begins to spot the strange parallels in their stories. Then Pete discovers a truth that changes everything.

But, as surely as a compass points north, some people cannot be kept apart.

My One True North is a story of friendship and what love means, of secrets uncovered, tea-shops on corners and the northern lights.

soothing like hot chocolate

I'm not sure what it is with Milly Johnson... the story is rather predictable and very sweet, but it never becomes too sweet, and whatever she writes, it is always delectable and just that something you need after a stressful day.

Wonderful

I have enjoyed all of Milly’s books that I have so far read, but this one is particularly scrumptious.
I often use this type of book as rewards to myself after listening to other far more serious books. As here I always know what I ‘m getting and that I am going to be left with all sorts of wonderful feelings afterwards.
Brilliant narration as usual

Like a warm hug

Milly Johnson is on top of her game with her latest book. It has been so worth the wait. As well as her fabulous story she has reconnected us with past favourite characters , which if you haven’t read any of her previous books, stand alone in their characterisation.
I am just disappointed that I will have a long wait until her next book

One of Milly’s best!

I always love a Milly Johnson, story. You know what you’re getting, and its reliably good.
My One True North, didn’t disappoint. Likeable characters, with a touch of magic and some fabulous twists and turns to the story.
True Milly fans will recognise a number of characters who show up from previous books. I love the way this happens in many of Milly’s books.
My only criticism, if you can call it that, would be that, although i was happy with the ending, i wish we’d had a bit of an epilogue, a bit of “six months later”.
My hope is that Milly stopped this story where she did, because there will be more to come from these likeable, warm characters in future stories.
Overall, a very enjoyable book, and i’d go as far to say, Milly Johnson, this is your best work to date.
As an audio listener, i should mention aswell, that the narration by Coleen Prendegast, as always is spor on. Her voice and Milly’s words male for a pleasant, funny, emotional, rollercoaster of a listen.

Fantastic book to listen to!

I have either read or listened to all of Milly Johnsons books, and with every book I've said it's my favourite, but this book is my new favourite. loved that at 1 point I thought I'd predicted the storyline... only to stop and gasp when I realised I'd completely got it wrong. loved the twists and turns. I also love hearing about the stars of past books. Never stop writing Milly I cant wait for your next book x

Always love to have a new Milly Johnson book

It is great to meet up with old friends from 'Here come the girls' with an expanded presence of The Trumpet and its misprints. A wonderful book, thought-provoking situations for the characters. Hard to stop listening until I came to the end of the book.

I did not want it to end

I usually find hearing about affairs upsetting but this was so beautifully done, it showed that they were meant to be together.
The story about the 2 main characters was absolutely lovely. It could have been longer! I listened to it as slowly as I could to eek it out.
Colleen's narration was perfect as always.
I LOVED IT

Great Chick Lit.

Great chick lit. Love the humour. Believable characters. Shame there wasn't an epilogue. Fantastic to listen to in the car.
