Summary

A village full of gorgeous elves desperate to be loved? There had to be a catch.

Sebastian Frost’s most recent memory was waking up in a field naked, in a body that wasn’t his own, in a world that definitely wasn’t his own, and three stunning pointy-eared women staring right at him. He also remembered hair as white as starlight, eyes like amethysts, and the name Shalia.

Fortunately, it was the right name to know.

Shalia was the elves’ goddess, and that made him her herald. If that wasn’t enough of a blessing, he was in a game world, he was high level, he had hundreds of ability points to spend, and the elves were practically throwing themselves at him.

Of course, there was a catch.

Shalia, her followers, and now, Frost himself were viewed by the world as bringers of misfortune and everybody hated them. Although, to be fair, Frost was going to rain misfortune on anybody who attempted to harm his lovable new followers.

Herald of Shalia is a fun fantasy litRPG by Tamryn Tamer and contains attention-starved elves, beast-girl courtesans, foul language, twosomes, threesomes, and foursomes, and completely over-the-top love-making. You've been warned.

Review contains spoilers.

Kieran Flitton has an okey voice when he talks normally, but a majority of the time he just sounds out of place and weird. The book used many of our modern cuss words and bad language that it just feels out of place. Overall it was good, liked the unusual way of looking at elves. Personaly I would love to be a herald for them. But anyway I liked the start with him building his relations, learning the powersystem and how to level. The planning and protectivness for his elves. Well I really liked it in the beginning and the middle. Well up until he became weird and goofy. He loves his elves and his future wife, but he still bought whores, fucked them infront of his fiance and Invited them to his elven village... It just made me drop any respect for him. I didnt mind the Invite for the arachne, since it was for her tailoring skills and to give her a chance for a better life.

I dont mind sex from time to time, it can be romantic and character bonding. But it felt like the writer got horny writing and changed his/her mindset to sexsaga

Good book, but a bit over the top

Really interesting story and magic system. Narration is great. Characters are really developed well, until 2nd half which is about sex. Too bad, it got boring and the story just stopped.

First half is really good. Second half is just filled with orgies and all women are lesbos. I don't mind the sex, but it bring nothing to the story and there is no emotions in it, except for lust (for anything by anyone).

Will probably check out book 2, but it feels like it will more of the 2nd half.

Surprising

Surprisingly good, I checked this one out after reading the summary of book 3 by mistake and while a bit slow to start I very much enjoyed it and am planning to start on book 2 tonight.

While a touch too sexual at times it has some very good comedy that made me laugh in the character exchanges and when it starts into the world building and plot it really caught my eye and I managed to finish this in 2 days and the only reason it wasn’t 1 was due to the shortness of the first day.

Awesome and fun listen

Ok let’s be real. Is the premise super original? Not really. However it is surprisingly well done, with a main character that is refreshingly different enough that I really enjoyed the story. The world was believable enough, and overall I enjoyed this a lot. Waiting for the next one.

Performance wise I think the male narrator could have done a bit more to sound more like he was talking with people, but this was only really noticeable in the first few chapters, before I got used to it. Also the fact is that the female narrator is the one you hear 75% of the time, which makes it less of an issue overall

I own a 1000 audio books this is top 5

Just so ready for next 3 in series just 1 of the best characters and narration of all books I've ever listen too if you don't mind graphic very descriptive sex. If this book had no graphic sex it still would be a top 10 book just from a wonderfully done story and narration. But the graphic part is pretty awesome too and on an adult level not a teen trying to describe it

I made it to chapter 4 before I had to quit.

As of chapter 4, the main character is a weak and insecure beta male.
All kinds of, "Oh you're too pretty and good for me," and other insecurities in dealing with women. The requisite suspension of disbelief is too much for me. The main character starts out butt nekkid and is found by a few attractive women and he cowers like some sort of twisted amalgamation of neckbearded betanerd and choir boy, taking all the worst of each and ignoring any character strengths of either. He has the towering intellect of a bicycle helmet wearing windowlicker and the moral strength of a soggy soda cracker. His idea of flirting with a 93 year old elf chick is limited to How do you know I'm a good man, I could be bad.

To the author;
Get out there, into blue collar work environments for a couple of years and get a handle on how men interact with each other. Get a job as an EMT, or as a bouncer at a bar, and watch the way that the women and men interact with each other. Your understand of people absolutely sucks and you absolutely NEED to learn about people if you are going to write about them and their interactions.

I am returning this. don't waste your money or TIME with this.

Wow... just wow!

Been a fan of the Herald of Shalia books for a while now. And I must say both Amber and Kieran did an incredible job of narrating it to life. Absolutely fantastic!

The book's main character, Sebastian Frost, starts out being dropped on a world by a goddess to be her selected Herald. This world has the litrpg mechanics where you have to level up to thrive. Frost essentially has to come to terms with his new reality while choosing between his own self interest or the presumptive constituency that are Shalia's followers, whom desperately needs a leader and guidance. The task is daunting as no other Herald or country wants an upstart following near or within their borders.

The system is well done. But I think the strongest aspect of this book is the incredible detail and realism the author manages to bring with the characters. Not only the characters, but the world's societal interactions are completely nuanced with regards of realism. Things aren't just good or evil, nor are they "shades of grey". Every character and or organisation (country) has driven motivations that brings this story to life.

I absolutely love the banter moments between Slade and Frost and can't wait for more. Please do book 2 SOON! PLEASE! Again, fantastic job to both narrators with their phenomenal performance in bringing this series to life.

Advisory warning, this book has intense sexual descriptions, violence, both harems and monogamous relationships, foul language, incredible humor of realism, and extreme character titles that mmo's would be sued over. Listen to this highly fun and entertaining story at your own risk.

No. No. No.

I made it up to chapter 9 but just could not listen anymore. The story was not even beginning to develop because everything was about the attraction of the main male character to all the female characters, sex all the time, and his constant declarations to them about how beautiful they all are. If not for the graphic sex, this book would be for tweens. The narration was shaping up pretty well though; sadly it could not keep me interested.

very fun and sexy story

I felt the story was very well written it was entertaining and kept me riveted. the voice actors and actresses were spot on and added depth and dimension. I have to say, Amber Lee Connors, the female voice actress did a very good job on the sexy parts and emulating the different voices of the different women. And the male voice, Kieran Flitton, did a great job emulating the main character. I for one would love to be able to listen to book number two thank you for doing a job well done, author and voice actors.

Tamryn Tamer gets what harem fantasy is all about.

If you are a fan of harem fantasy then you probably know how rare it is for there to be one with a good worthwhile story. This is definitely a story worthy of your time, if you haven't picked it up already and are a fan of the genre consider yourself obligated to get it.... now... seriously, it is easily in the top 10 of the genre and a great fantasy story most of the harem elements aside (though I won't lie it is a major part of the story and can't be easily separated.)

Amazing story

Wonderful story interesting use of game mechanics. I love the interplay of politics, power leveling and crafting . Can’t wait for the next installment of this book. Looking forward to the city planning. I think what I love most is how the MC is not obvious too OP or dumb. But uses basic knowledge and skills to his advantage. While at the same time has flaws and gaps in the worlds knowledge and politics.

The audio was perfect for this book. The vocals used are one of my favorites. Wish for more in the series!

Love the story but....

Love the story but the narration was off. Maybe is was the editing or pacing, I don't know. The narration was read like a romance novel and with the male voice added in just broke up the flow. It's one the few books I'll just read again instead.
