About this listen

Every year, the empire administers the rite of passage into adulthood. That rite serves to identify those blessed by Aether to become magi. The new magi are shipped to the academy to learn the arts of magic.

The academy is a dangerous place; the tournaments held twice each year can cripple or kill the students, and the clans of the empire will go to great lengths to recruit the students they want.

Gregory had one dream: to become a magi like the legends of old. Though he was ridiculed by the residents of the village and his unsupportive father, he never wavered from his dream. Would his age day bring the fruition of his dreams, or would reality come crashing down on him?

Amazing story, you have magic, cultivation and an academy setting. The world is vast and interesting, the clans are unique and powerful. The MCs are both underdogs with interesting abilities. I can wait for more.

It can be overly soppy at times but nonetheless it is an awesome book.

The narrator is good there are books I won’t listen to because of narrators voices are drooling 😂 happy to say this is not one of them.

Love it can’t wait to start the next book

interesting mix of slice of life, coming of age, progression and tournament arc set in a military-esque academy almost like iron prince but with slavery sex racism and clan wars.
be aware however around book 3 the story goes full harem route which was disappointing, but I was fully invested by then and just put up with it.

Great story, better characters
