Summary

Cass is having a hard time since the night she saw the car in the woods and the woman who was killed. Since then she's been forgetting everything: where she left the car, if she took her pills, the alarm code, why she ordered a pram when she doesn't have a baby....

What she can't forget is the woman she might have saved, the terrible nagging guilt, the silent calls she's receiving and the feeling that someone's watching her.

It Got Better

If i could have given half stars i would have given 3.5.

At times the story was a bit repetitive and I began to think of my next listen. But it has to be really bad for me to give up on a book and I'm glad I continued because it did get better and i enjoyed the ending.

This is the second book I've listened to by B A Paris now and I found I needed to have to stretch the imagination a lot to believe the story. But no matter, I suppose we don't have to be too pedantic sometimes we can just go with it and enjoy.

dull in places

Most of this was great but there were too many chapters listing mobile conversations, just so boring..Not the best book they've written, which was disappointing!!

Don't forget

Any additional comments?

Cass’s life had been wonderful until that fateful night but when she chooses the shortcut home, it changes the course of her life. Between the menacing calls and the constant forgetfulness, Cass doesn’t know where to go or who to turn to but she knows that she can’t keep her secret for much longer.

This thriller comes from a fragile woman’s point of view and it is terrifying because the reader feels Cass’s vulnerability and loneliness. It is an uncomfortable read which all thrillers should be and it certainly builds in suspense as the story moves forward.

I found the ending very satisfying, and I was quite relieved when Cass started eating again because food and drink had featured so prominently in the beginning. I like Paris’s ability to keep you guessing until the end.

Good stuff!

I would say this is a 3.5* read/listen for me. I enjoyed it. Especially the final few chapters.

Unusual plot.

An excellent example of how deceit, lies, fear and inauthenticity can lead to paranoidal delusions.

But the surprising outcome explains it all.

Gripped!

I just couldn't stop listening, especially during the last 4 chapters or so. It took me on a roller coaster of being irritated with the main character, to feeling sympathy and a whole lot more. It's my first B A Paris book, looking forward to more.

An excellent tale of murder, greed and betrayal.

Another good read by B A Paris, you know something is not quite right from the start but it will surprise you at the end. An excellent tale of murder, greed and betrayal.

Fine- but slow and little predictable

The performance is- as ever good. But I was disappointed in theme story, slow and ponderous and I feel a little predictable.
