Summary

An out-of-control arsonist seeking revenge. A fireman and a detective on his tail.

Count to Ten is a compulsive thriller, part of the Chicago series, by Sunday Times best seller Karen Rose.

Abandoned years ago to the foster-care system, two young brothers end up in an unimaginable hell, and when one dies, the other vows revenge on those responsible.

Chicago Fire Department veteran Reed Solliday immediately knows he needs help when an autopsy reveals that a young girl found in the wreckage of an explosion was raped and murdered before fire ripped through the house.

Determined to bury herself in work after her partner is shot, Detective Mia Mitchell understands Solliday's case will be her most challenging to date. An arsonist who has escalated in this way is rare, and they both know time to find him is running out....

Fab

Especially all of it, the narrator, everything, well done. I have read a few by Karen Rose all of which I've enjoyed (apart from the porn!) and this one has not disappointed too!

very enjoyable story in the series of books

The narration was one of the better ones, allowing me to focus on the story and not the audio quality.

Gripping story

Great story read well, it's great to see Mia Mitchell get a little romance, no matter how hard she tries not to , thrilling right to the end.

Absolutely love Karen Rose! Have read/listened to all of her books and will continue to do so... Such a good mix between romance and crime.

I have to start returning books.

Don’t finish a book just because you’ve started it! I wanted to give up all the way through but I don’t like to do that. A great deal of the language was what I imagine would be in a certain, prolific, series of romance books the name of which I cannot recall. It was cringeworthy and so cliched that I was getting headaches from all the eye rolling I was doing! I thought at least there is no “pulled onto his lap” but fear not, it came, major eye rolling at that! Without all that it would have been a decent story.

Narration

I look forward to each new book by this author and have purchased most of her books. I am so disappointed that I’ve had to return this book. The narration is awful. I listened for half an hour and couldn’t bear it . The style is so aggressive and sharpe, not appropriate at all for her style of writing. Such a shame it’s ruined this book for me and apparently for many others s well. I’ve had to give it one star even for the story , which I’m sure is in reality a five but unfortunately the narration prevented me from listening to the whole book.
