amazing breathwork sessions but disliked structure
I absolutely love Rebecca Dennis' work and get so much from her sessions. I already knew a bit about breath work and have a good understanding of stress, the brain etc, so, personally, I didn't get much from those aspects of this book. if someone was coming to breathwork with no experience however, I think these introductions would be really helpful and Rebecca does describe things well. the sessions themselves were WONDERFUL, there are some sessions here that I'll use every day and that's exactly what I was looking for, some more in-depth breath sessions that I can benefit from. that's a huge positive for me. the biggest let down for me is the way this has been structured. I was a bit confused how to work through the book, which parts were information and which were practical. I don't feel the chapters name match the content. it's also so disappointing that the practices aren't in separate chapters so they can be easily accessed. considering there are up to 4 practices in a chapter, with some info between each, which I don't want to access each time, it seems like such a mistake to not separate the breath sessions from the info sections. I think it makes this book a lot less useable.
as no one else has mentioned this in their reviews, maybe this is something I've misunderstood?
I've went through the book and marked out where all the sessions are, with approximate lengths so I can go back easily, it was frustrating to do this so I'll share for others who want to use this book as a resource...
intro:
16:20 breath awareness 10 mins
chapter 1:
5:50 conscious breathing 15 mins
chapter 2:
10:15 breath exercise 22 mins
35:10 alternate nostril breathing 6 mins
chapter 3:
9:00 art of letting go 25 mins
35:30 body scan 2 mins
38:50 deep release breath with acceptance 15 mins
chapter 4
11:10 rolling breath and deep relaxation 35 mins (my favourite)
chapter 5
6:45 alleviating anxiety 6 mins
12:30 yoga nidra 11 mins
24:30 alternate nostril breathing 12 mins
37:14 chakra meditation 17 mins

A good time to help you breathe to a calmer life
This new book by an established Breathing Expert should be useful for two reasons. Firstly, it's an interesting and calm explanation of how and why good breathing practice can benefit your health, physically and emotionally. Secondly, it's a personal tutorial that enables the reader to improve breathing techniques with the expert gently guiding you through the exercises. That's the advantage of having this book in audio as it feels as if the author is actually with you in the room, working in a one-to-one relationship.
With so many people feeling pressured by lockdown with worries over relationships, emotions and financial stability, there could hardly be a better time for this book.

I highly recommend listening to this beautifully curated guide to Breathwork. Rebecca’s online workshops really helped to get me through 2020 with my sanity intact and I have been searching for guided sessions that I could do in my own time. This book provides that and more & I’m
so thankful to Rebecca to creating it. I love the combination of the emerging science of breathwork with practical guidance in the form of exercises with soundscapes. I know that this guide will be my very close & dependable companion for 2021 and beyond - just like my breath! Thank you Rebecca!

Perfect for these times
I've been waiting for this to come out for a while and it's worth the wait. Rebecca is a master breath guru yet has such a gentle, inclusive and compassionate approach in sharing her craft and knowledge. This practical course takes the listener on a journey, helping them to understand, practice and integrate easy and effective breathing techniques which help address symptoms of anxiety, depression, increase feelings of emotional wellbeing and bolster physical health. I've tried many ways to manage symptoms of anxiety and depression in the past and learning to breathe properly is one that has had the biggest and longest-lasting impact. In today's fast-paced world, we become so disconnected from our bodies and minds and our ability to help ourselves. This journey helps to ground and bring us back in touch with a calmer version of ourselves.

Perfect for the curious as well as the refreshers
I had this book on my wishlist for months and it was so worth the wait!
The exercises and explanations are great and I will continue to keep going back to this for years to come I know.
Only suggestions would be for the exercises to be a chapter in the book. This would help me find them. I enjoy listening to information as I potter about but I might be in the middle of something so cannot do the exercise straight away. It would also help me to find the exercises at a later date.

Everyone needs Rebecca in their life.
I was fortunate to meet Rebecca years ago and she sparked an interest in breathwork that has quite literally changed my life.
When she first told me about how beneficial it was I was skeptical.... I was really unwell at the time and on very strong medication.
However, the way she explained breathwork to me, stuck with me.
I cannot recommend her books highly enough.
Put in the work to practice her methods and you will be rewarded ten-fold.
Thank you Rebecca, for the gift of breath... I no longer hold mine without realising!
