About this listen

Taking the perfect photograph can be murder....

Yorkshire, 1928. Indomitable sleuth Kate Shackleton is taking a well-deserved break from her detective work and indulging in her other passion: photography. When her local Photographic Society proposes an outing, Kate jumps at the chance to visit Haworth and Stanbury, in the heart of Brontë country, the setting for Wuthering Heights.

But when an obnoxious member of their party is murdered, the group is thrown into disarray. Is the murderer amongst them, or did the loud-mouthed Tobias have more enemies than they might have imagined?

Armed with her wit and wiles, and of course her trusty camera, it's up to Kate to crack the case and get that perfect shot, too....

I have liked this series from the very first one I listened to. Consuming them like treats one after the other until I had listened to all that were available. I then waited avidly for new releases. I like the narrator who adds just the correct amount of gravitas. I prefer the gentler stories with less suspense but the books in the series cater across the spectrum. I highly recommend these books.

My favourite of all the Kate Shackleton Mysteries

The period setting and the Yorkshire context. A believable storyline logically and calmly narrated. Loved it

Loved the story in its setting

I have loved all of the books in this series and this one did not disappoint. Anne Dover is the best narrator ever, in my opinion. I hope it won’t be too long for the next one!! I got through it far too quickly!!!!

Awesome!

I love the Kate Shackleton books. There are so many layers and a plethora of descriptive material.
You get drawn in so deeply and involved with each character, thus it is sad when you finally discover who committed the crime.
A couple of dislikable characters, and not enough Mrs Sugden.
Anne Dover is an excellent narrator for the series (but I wish she would pronounce it, 'cOnstable' instead of 'cUnstable'. Mrs Shackleton would have pronounced it properly.)

Sad When the Perpetrator was Discovered

This story seemed quite different to the others I’ve listened to. The story just wasn’t credible, and Kate’s reaction to the murderer was very strange. I’m not impressed with this one.

Disappointing
