Summary

The first book of the cozy mystery series!

Still spinning from the hustle and bustle of city life, Jodie ‘Nosey’ Parker is glad to be back in the Cornish village she calls home. Having quit the Met Police in search of something less dangerous, the change of pace means she can finally start her dream catering company and raise her daughter, Daisy, somewhere safer.

But there’s nothing quite like having your first job back at home be catering an ex-boyfriend’s wedding to remind you of just how small your village is. And when the bride vanishes, Jodie is drawn into the investigation, realising that life in the countryside might not be as quaint as she remembers.

With a missing bride on their hands, murder and mayhem lurks around every corner…

But surely saving the day will be a piece of cake for this not-so-amateur sleuth?

Cosy Crime, Cornwall Style

If you like cosy crime, there's not much to dislike about this audiobook.

The M.C. is a bit annoying but then she is a 'nosey parker' and I never met a nosey parker that wasn't annoying.

The plot is jolly, there's a nice tension between the characters and it's a great easy listen.

The narrator is perfect for the story.

Bland

I really tried to get into this book. The reader did a good job, but the story is just so desperately bland.

Brilliant

i was looking for that perfect balance between a too-cosy (read: syrupy sweet) mystery and something smart, witty and laugh out loud funny with well-written characters i care about right away. this book nailed it. a storyline that kept me guessing as well as kept my attention coupled with a fantastic narrator: what’s not to love? can’t wait to start book #2 tomorrow!

Good!

I enjoyed the story, the characters all grew on me. The narrator is very good - this is the first time I've read on 1.0 speed for a long while, it's a good reading cadence, not too slow. There are some laugh out loud moments in this book and the others in the series which I appreciated.

Very good cozy mystery

It’s so hard to find cozy mysteries that are not “overwritten” or try too hard. This was perfect, as was the narrator.

Enjoyable and fun

I loved that it was a story that allowed me to simply listen without any great pondering. Sometimes you don’t need a book that requires heavy reading. This was as one review stated simply delightful. Will definitely have to try the recipe at the end😋
