Thanks for visiting my author page! I live in Leeds, Yorkshire, where I was born. I started work at 16, including a spell in the USA, before catching up on education at Ruskin College, Oxford and York University. My private investigator, Kate Shackleton, began solving cases in Yorkshire in the early 1920s. In book twelve, she has reached 1930. My writing life began under my own name, Frances McNeil, in radio, theatre, TV and with three historical novels, the first of which received the HarperCollins Elizabeth Elgin Award.
