Summary

An outcast fighting for her future....

Thea Knight loves a spot of mischief. She especially loves her current mischief: masquerading as her sister, while finalizing her scheme to expose the dastardly knaves whose lies ruined her life.

Then big, bad-tempered Lord Luxborough upends her game by maneuvering her into marriage. But it's her sister’s name on the license, so the marriage won’t be valid. Thea’s idea? Keep pretending to be her sister until she can run away.

A recluse haunted by his past....

Rafe Landcross, Earl of Luxborough, has no love for mischief. Or marriage. Or people, for that matter. The last thing he wants is a wife - but if he marries, he’ll receive a large sum of much-needed money.

Then he learns that Thea Knight is using a false name. Rafe’s idea? Pretend he doesn’t know her true identity, marry her, and send her packing once the money is his.

A compelling attraction that changes their lives

But as passion ignites and secrets emerge, the mutual deception turns tricky fast. Rafe and Thea face irresistible temptations, unsettling revelations, and a countdown to the day when Thea must leave....

Fun, tender, and steamy, this Gothic-flavored historical romance tells of a fake marriage between a grumpy, scarred hero and a trickster heroine who reminds him how to play.

Amazing

I just loved listening to those 2 mischevious people discover themself and fall in love. you cannot help but love the heroine and the beastly hero. The storyline is clear and easy to follow even though there are many other characters and kate ready just bring the story to life. 5-star story, 5-star narration!!!!

Absolute treat!

The best of romances are those with characters you come to love with unique personalities, and then lots and lots of both fun and/or heart-touching interaction and repartee. It’s best when conversations flow normally giving out information, without the usual inner monologues to explain everything basically twice. Mia Vince is rather new to me but I love her stories and her writing.

A little boring and not enough romance

I really loved the first book but this one did not hold my attention or interest as the first one. Not enough romance and too many side plots such as the medicine developing. part. The pacing was odd at times and the overall plot was a little farfetched. But she is a talented writer and would not hesitate to read her next work.

Boring

A sham marriage between a woman and an Earl whose face is scarred from a jaguar attack. She is on a mission to get revenge on two men who played a foul trick on her that ruined her in the ton and made her family toss her out. I found this book to be downright tedious. I enjoyed the first book in the series, but this one was a dud. It was very confusing. From the very beginning I felt as if I had been dropped into an ongoing story and it did not make sense. The author is clever with dialog but the sequencing of the book is awful, in my opinion, and the pace is so slow I kept falling asleep. I don't know if this ended well or not because i had to stop listening due to extreme boredom.

Very enjoyable !

I really loved this book and it kept me entertained to the sweet HEA. It had all the feels needed for a beguiling love story. Ms Reading is a wonderful narrator and really brought the characters to life. If you want a story with a good plot, well written and expertly narrated, then this one is for you. Recommended.

A Developing Talent

Mia Vincy has a knack for witty dialog. Although the plotline is inventive the inner dialog tends to be repetitive & causes the story to drag a bit. Fortunately Kate Reading's narration helps to save the book from being irritating. Overall, a solid second in the series with hope for better things to come.

Books Aren't In Order

After listening to the first book in this series, I decided I have a new favorite author. And I loved this story too.. It's funny and sweet and not the same old historical romance. But, I was a little confused. One of the main sporting characters appeared in both books. in the first she was nearly married. In this one, she isn't married yet. Please switch the order of the books. I can't wait for Mia Vincy's next book.

The narration is also excellent. I love when the character's voices are different enough that you don't have to be told who is talking.

First time listener.

At first it was hard for me to listen to someone read a story to me because I have always read to myself. I thought the person's voice, who was reading out loud; didn't really mesh together with the storyline but I was dead wrong after the first two sentences. she brought the story and characters alive! Making me want to listen to the next chapter and another afterwards. I will definitely recommend this story and reader to my family and friends!!! Now that am done with this book, am off to start another adventure else where; and hopefully this reader will be there to help me bring that new story to life.
