When I’m accepted into the exclusive summer-at-sea college program run by Southeastern University, everyone tells me it’s the opportunity of a lifetime. So what if part of the agreement forces me to do a work-study? Free tuition, room, and board are more than worth scrubbing a few toilets for.

I always thought my biological father was a scumbag criminal, too busy selling illicit drugs to take care of his only daughter. The truth, as it turns out, is 10 times worse—he’s a literal monster, and he’s taken my family hostage. Now, he’s sending me to Southeastern University for the Magically Gifted, which is basically hell, high school, and a country club all rolled into one. He wants me to manifest my hidden powers, or something of that nature. But my powers are really good at hiding.

After one semester of college, I’m ready for a break. But as much as I’d like to take some me time and relax, there’s no rest for the wicked. Which is exactly what I am: wicked. Clearly I’m smart, too, because instead of going to the therapy sessions I obviously need, I’ve taken a trip to the past. At least I have some sort of goal now. To kill Astaroth, and maybe my father too, I need the Divinities Sword.

Returning to Southeastern is nothing short of a nightmare—and at this point, I’m an expert on those. My half-sister and cousin hate me, which is fantastic since we’re living together on campus. Rhys is here, too, but he’s giving me the cold shoulder as of late. Not even the Divinities Sword is sharp enough to cut through the awkwardness at home.

Chaos reigns supreme as my world is turned upside down by Neil’s bombshell revelation: I’m the Timekeeper’s Daughter, born to be a doomsday device for magical snakes. Just as I’m trying to wrap my head around that, Neil disappears, using his minions to launch a series of attacks on me and my allies.
